yup, i do this for a living, 20 years..its not easy, in fact its back breaking and can cause real headaches, but done right its very satisfying with the end result. I tuned in just to see how others do it, this is a good method!
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ru-vid.comUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
its funny because its true and they align the ground perfectly like they are building a space station, its a freakin yard, what are they expecting, eggs to not roll when they hide those ?
I just finished digging about a 10ft2 in Houston Texas which has what they call “gumbo soil” and it’s essentially just wet clay. It’s also 82 degrees with 71% humidity. Good lord that was exhausting
Does anyone remember when these two were on HGTV with their own show, Home Time, before he kicked Robin to the curb and Hooked up with Jojo? Had to have been like 20 years ago or something.
Depending where you are you could use hot lime that is what they use on oil rigs to dry the mud/cuttings and water it's messy it can smoke and burn things wouldn't recommend near building or cars because the steam carries the lime but if your trying to build a drive way threw wet area it would best if you had pile mud and just kept rolling it with a machine in few minutes you could use the dirt but near building I would 3 inch gravel it binds up better than 2b wich will roll like marbles out from under tires then cover it in 2a modified like your using ,the netting is good if it's sponge the lime trick is good for jobs where you need to haul the muck out because no place to go with the mud on location line the truck with plastic or it will stick in box load it up after it there no more running water you could move on with job you would have to wait or come back to it will save you a fine for spilling mud water i use excavator to mix because the volatile action is farther away you still need a air mask if you don't have good cab even then recommend cause you can't direct wind new construction where it's soup mess before anything was built perfect place to try it's not hydrated lime that farmers put on floor barn
Word of advice, once you get your area level. Make sure everyone knows not to let the dog out. Someone let our Lab out, while I was at the hardware store. Wow did he have fun. I cussed....alot.
So, to summarize it in a simplified way, you scrape off a couple inches of dirt, then layer it with either Lyme stone or sand, make sure the sand is not dry and not too moist, make sure it's nice and flat with a pather or stomping it down with your shoes, and finally you can lay down your bricks.
I dunno but I've read you NOT supposed to put fabric down under your paver sand, and you're NOT supposed to tamp down the bedding (final layer of paving sand). Also DIY doesn't involve spending lots of $ on equipment and hauling. Only makes sense if you are doing a large project. At that point I would pay someone to do ALL of the work.
NOT a DIY when you hire an contractor using a specialized excavation machine. Show me some home owners building it using simple hand tools like shovels.
let the base materiel dry out for awhile? Those compactors cost $100 a day. I don't think so. If that gravel didn't dry out at the gravel yard, why would it at your house?
1:16 "If he goes too deep, 'don't let him try to fill it back in and smooth it out" ..... HUH?! If you go too deep don't you want to fill it back in???
Just wetting my feet on this subject, but my initial observation is that patio pavers seem to be just as much work, expense and expertise as any of the other options. I'd look at all the other options such as a deck or poured concrete which can be stained to look like fancy patio pavers except with no part time job keeping weeds from between the cracks.
I've wanted to make a paver walkway for a while, but with all that prep work, It would be easier to pour a concrete walkway, although I like the fact that the pavers are permeable.
They spread the sub base with an upside down rake so to not rip out the bigger pieces of aggregate in the teeth of the rake, which would hinder the compaction 👍
Jorge Gordillo Jaja ..is thinking the same thing......lol... I was so motivated to do it my self and these guys you fucking... ruined my motivation they make look so hard...
Why not use a mini EXCAVATOR rather than a skid steer excavators are designed for excavating skid steers are designed for loading just a question the Americans seem to love skid steers where as in the uk we tend to use diggers and dumpers as it creates less damage
But the basics are all there - get to the right level, sand, water level, some kind of compaction then lay the pavement pieces. Base mats & the geotech sheet is an overkill imo .
I installed pavers for 10 yrs,,,,From patios to complete driveways,,,,Pavers are expensive,,,and so is all the equipment needed to install them correctly,,,,You better have a lot of money,,,OR a lot of emanual labor I dont recommend this for DIY people
1" for every 8 feet is standard, you're right. But each scenario has it's challenges and you need to improvise. I would never go more drastic than 1" every 4 feet though. Why don't you help all of youtube out and explain why it's completely wrong rather than negatively commenting on it next time.
Awww you u tube mad ain't ya hundreds of dollars!!!! I think you might just be poor. Bro, Stephen Paddock got thousands of dollars of sushi. Comp'd!!!!!
They also mentioned the contractor, which would be more than the tool rental. Der... I'll bet you try to sound superior in most of your comments. Missed the mark again buddy.
How to do pavers: Hire some local labor at the Home Depot, buy the materials and voila ! A $10,000 DYI job is now a $1000.00 job done by day laborers that do this everyday.
130 bucks for 3 days hire on a compactor, jeez. Maybe you could have a look on you tube and see if there's any tutorials on how to not get robbed in your local hire store 👍
DIY Landscaping btw you guys need to read the text in the description - it’s got a lot of nonsense in it ie “with a dick in the patio” I know most people don’t want that but it’s not what you wanted to say
