Yeah i grew up with my grandparents, so I had chores along with my aunts, we used a knife . But when I had my own kitchen well I just had to have a peeler. Then after I was older they peeler was sold I bought one of those. Now I just reach for a knife. .
I like potatoes on my soups, can I cook and cut in chunks instead of shredding? Sometimes I have potatoes that are beginning to get sprouts, but its too early to plant. I feel rushed to used them and freezing seems to be a great idea.
Yes! It's a trick that few people know, they bake the potatoes before they freeze them. That's why when we grate a raw potato and try to fry it up at home it just burns on the outside and is limp and uncooked on the inside. Baking the taters before shredding is the key to perfect hash browns.
It's my recipe and it makes the most perfect and beautiful hash browns without preservatives and browning you will get with grated raw potatoes that you try to freeze for later. If it's a hassle I'm confident you will find an easier way to do it, that's the beauty of RU-vid but I promise you won't be disappointed with my recipe if you try it this way most especially if you plan to batch cook them and freeze for later use.
