Hi Folks! Today I am going to show you how to press flowers in the microwave with nothing more than a piece of paper, paper towel and a ceramic tile. It is so easy and it only takes two minutes. Best of all it is practically a free craft. So go pick some flowers and you will be all set!

This is 7 years later....2020 now! I was looking how to microwave press flowers, saw some quite expensive items, then fire bricks, and stumbled on this tutorial: I look no further!!! I have two tiles, plain paper, paper towels, so only need some flowers now!! Thanks for sharing, you saved me big bucks with this knowledge!!!

I placed my fresh flowers between 2sheets of folded in half 8 1/2 x 11" printer paper, and paper towel..then placed the flowers in the microwave first before setting 3 microwave safe dinner plates on top of the flowers for weight..I then set my 1200 watt microwave for 1 min and 20 sec.and it was perfect..if not sufficiently dry when you take out of microwave try a lower power level as she stated for about 30 seconds or less..checking each time

I almost bought a microwave flower press for $30, then watched your video. I used plain newsprint paper and paper towels with a heavy corningware dish as the weight and they came out perfect in a little over a minute in the microwave. Thanks for saving me $$$!

Ha ha... I went and bought two tiles today to try this out. I was so excited and knew what flowers I would pick to test it out. Well.....when I went to test tile size in microwave, they were too big. I was devastated as it was a half and hour drive to town again. Luckily hubby said he could cut the corners off for me this weekend! So I’m all excited again. You are awesome, and remind me alot of dear, fun people in my life who have either left earth now or moved interstate, and I miss them so much. Go girl 🌼

I "liked" this video when I saw what you were doing. I subscribed when you acknowledged that some people might not want to hear you, "gab for 20 seconds," and then unapologetically continued to do just that. I'm a resin artist and I was in a foul mood when I started watching this video, but I was laughing by the end of it because you remind me of my best friend. I'm looking forward to trying this technique as well as watching some more of your videos. Please, never change unless it's to be an even brighter ray of sunshine than you were in this video 6yrs ago. You. Are. Delightful!

they are probably not done yet, try 30 seconds more. Make sure the flowers are inside the paper and surround the paper with a paper towel then pit the tile on top. After cooking gently lift the edge and peek in, if the flowers stick you need to cook them longer. heat 30 seconds then check until they do not stick. Let me know if you are still having trouble.

Yes you can, try to find one with a flat bottom, most plated have a ridge on the bottom, anything flat that is ceramic or heavy tempered glass would work. A better idea might be a glass pie plate or casserole dish as they usually are flat on the bottom and are heavy because it need to press the flowers and squish out the moisture.

Thanks!! This was super helpful. I had a dried orchid flower in just 2 minutes! My white daisy ended up a bit brown though...white flowers are always a headache to dry no matter which way you do it I guess. But I'm so happy my orchid and my chrysanthemum flowers came out fantastic! I just got done gluing them into my scrapbook. Now we wait for the mod podge to dry.

Lindsay you are so animated, many blessings to you and your family. Thank you for sharing your technique and posting it. It actually worked great for me, I added one more step to make it easier to extract them from the paper. Right after I take it out of the microwave oven, while they are still enveloped int he paper I place them in the freezer for a minute or so; I discovered that this cooling step helps them come off easier.

I just went out to my garden, picked a few of my roses, put them in the micro and Instant Pressed Roses or my journal, wow. Took about 2 mins total for each one. So I made a window tag, and it turned out great. I didn't have a tile, but I did have a piece of pressed wood I use for hammering things when I am working on my journals and adding eyelets and things. It's about 1/2" x 8x11 and it worked great. Thanks, Lindsay! Instant gratification. You daughter did a great job filming, and you look very trim and pretty! You still do, too =)
