Also, how can I tell if the mold is just on the surface of the wall or behind the wall? There are spots all the ceiling and walls, so it is difficult to tell
@@SJones-kk5lg I mixed it 50/50, but the mold issue I had was really bad. You may not need to mix it that strong. Maybe you could get by with less bleach. The ratio I did turned my ceiling white and the mold never came back, but I also put a dehumidifier in my bathroom as well, which I think was the prime factor of why it never came back.
Do you need an electronic vent.. I had a problem with mold in the bathroom and I put a 4 and a half inch hole out through a double brick wall and put a round vent cover on either end with no fan.. have seen a difference since the mold was cleaned and doesn’t seem to be coming back
Are dehumifers worth using and do they kill mold already in a bedroom or do they just stop new mold appearing also is salt effective and ok to use in dehumifer when Crystal's have run out I have mold in my bedroom and I use dehumifers
Wouldn’t the attic have moisture from the bathroom (or upper level) basically I have no fan in my bathroom. Little bit of mokd in the corner. I cleane it once’s but it’s back. Now I’m going to learn how to install a fan and get on it. I’m sure assuming there’s shit in the attic.
Hey Buddy, Mike here, and I have done a lot of property maintenance before in the past and somehow always end up returning to the field despite my wanting to explore new things. Anyway really like the channel and the tips and am looking forward to trying all of this. I am a single person maintenance team of a 54 room hotel in the extreme environment of Wyoming, we have a debilitating and deadly winter season, and an extreme solar summer due to our elevation. Sun damage and sunfade are huge factors here just as much as the cold. I know, you know maintenance is an ongoing battle and by reaching out to you I am hoping to build a network of friends, peers, and like minds to tackle any type of property maintenance questions, such as tool suggestions and how to get management on your side for budgeting and acquisitions. Keep making the vids and keep being awesome, until next time friend!
Hey, Mike! So sorry for the delayed response. We somehow never saw this, I apologize! Thanks for the input and I'll look out for your tips! Keep up the good work.
So I have the spotty black spots, also known as dew point mildew. Simply got a small spray bottle with probably 30% full clorox and 70% water. Shook it to mix it and spray it on the mildew, let sit for 20-30 minutes and wipe off. Works fantastic 👍
Hi. We have tall popcorn ceilings in our bathroom and do the ventilation tips you've mentioned. But we still have the mold. What would you suggest...remove popcorn and repaint or use mold spray prevention? Thanks
Hi, Linda! If you are the homeowner I would say that might be a good idea. This way you can get to the source of the issue easier. However, you will want to check in about the proper care &/ or professionals needed to remove the popcorn ceiling to alleviate any asbestos or unknowns. I believe there is also a special paint that is designed to help kill and seal any mildew. I would ask a paint rep at your local store. Thanks for the look and good luck!
Does your bathroom have a window? I would open the window and get a box fan or an oscillating standing fan to use at the bathroom door. This will help circulate the air and the moisture out of the bathroom. Try to leave the door open as much as possible with a fan running. Or put in a request with the property management company to see if installing a ceiling fan would work? Thank you for checking us out and good luck!
Result: I never found one ratio. But you can put vinegar in a bottle and spray it on mold on walls. Getting baking soda on the wall is a bit trickier, but you can rub it on. Remember to wear gloves!
Ya might want to suggest using some kind of protective eye wear?? Mayyybe? ...when spraying ANY kind of chemical, bleach or not...I mean, sure, I wouldn't want to damage the paint on my walls or bathroom accessories, but even when spraying away from your face, mist goes everywhere. I think vision is a pretty important sensory ya might want to keep intact. Jussst sayin'.
Lady J I have the same problem. I have a box fan on the wall and leave the door open. I also have a drop ceiling in order to reduce moisture but my neighbor above me ruined it when he flooded his apartment (over and over) so now it is moldy. Maybe I'll try this product.
