I jsut unrolled my biggest and best carpet, wool and silk from Pakistan and it was full of moth with dinner plate sized pieces of pile gone. I am going to buy a chest freezer and put them all in it one at a time for 3 days. I recently lost 25 sweaters mostly cashmere to moth also. In the past I have lost quite a few rugs totally eaten.
I have recently found damage by these moths as well. I am an older person, living alone in a large house. I have signed up for free electricity between 9.pm & 12 am and repeatedly boil 2 jugs of water and pour it along all the carpet edges & base boards. Hoping this will kill 3 of the stages. The tiresome part is moving heavy furniture from the walls. After that I have to get the moths. lol But at least I feel I am trying something
Thank you. We have recently had a problem with carpet moths, we bought wool carpet because it's fire resistance so giving more time to escape if there is a fire, but apapparently moths love wool fibres, but I think it's a small price to pay for safety. Thank you for your tips on how to get rid of them as they are so annoying xx
I will try this, bloody things took over our house in the past few weeks and starting to see circular holes in carpet. If all fails I’ll call the experts
I really, really need some advice re carpet moths BUT, how on earth are you supposed to hear anything with the loud plinky plonky in the background? For me and presumably anyone else with Hyperacusis that’s ALL I can hear. Back to the drawing board. 😢😢😢
Someone gave me a crappy wool sweater about 1.5 years ago that I never wore. Several beautiful wool rugs and cashmere sweaters , on and on and on … all for a sh*t sweater that I wouldn’t let my cat sleep on ! Why oh why didn’t I toss it immediately?
I have had that. I've been vacumming twice a week and spraying twice daily neat white vinegar and endless traps everywhere. After two months beginning to see improvement. The vinegar disturbs the larvae and they pop their heads up then I get them. I'm thinking of the Triachiomma wasps
😢😢😢 I suggest a ceremonial funeral pyre, carpet, larvae, moths and all! Follow with a thorough cleaning in whatever the experts suggest or maybe steam cleaning? Then hope that your house insurance, if you have any, will cover the cost of a replacement! 😢😢😢
Huge thanks for your video, thought I had mice 😔 Rentokil confirmed 💯 carpet moths & even said about knife under wipes! Also neat vinegar, steam or freeze if infestation, your a star thank you, Bx
I'm going to do this bloody clothes moths wont leave my room no matter what a full 12 months of these annoying things, problem is they're the same colour as my carpet ahhhh. Knife trick is the one I'm going to try out.
