This dude has been putting out the best photography business information in video format that I have ever seen. Hands down. No fluff, right to the point, great information, real insight, well spoken. I wish he was around 5 or 6 years ago when I was getting started, ha.
would love to see a video about your streams of income other than youtube and client work also love your videos you talk about the business side of photography like no one else not basic stuff like contracts and insurance
Great video and thanks for sharing your pricing structures. I have been shooting professionally for over 5 years now and am thinking of getting an agent to do all the negotiations. At what stage is the right time to hire an agent? In your experience, is it worthwhile getting one?
Hey Scott, another great video. Great insights! Do the clients usually ask for/appreciate the whole list, the break up of the services that they have been charged for or you as a part of the process offer them this list?
I dont tend to give a breakdown to anything but really high end clients. otherwise they start trying to cut back on production, which makes my life a lot harder.
@@TinHouseStudioUK Thank you. Makes sense, because in my experience the clients in the lower-mid and mid-level tend to see a few things as dispensable while they are fine if you give them the whole cost as is.
Hi Scott, excellent video content. Thank you for sharing this. One quick (and maybe dumb) question: the AOP rate is also multiplied by the number of days you work on the project? Let us say your BUR is 500 pounds X 3 days will give you a BUR of 1500 pounds. If the AOP (given certain selection) comes to 300% meaning 1500 pounds that also gets multiplied by 3 ? So total is 6000 or 3000 ? Thank you!
Im sorry, im kinda new in this industry. Just wondering why the licensing we charge like 75%-200% base on percent? can sir help to elobrate little bit. So i can reply and response if my client ask why they must pay licensing and why base on %?
Hi Scott! I've just discovered your channel, great content! May I ask what would you normally include in a full day rate (like a max. number of products / dishes) when working with your local market ? For example, when quoting a day rate to a local chain restaurant and they would expect you to shoot 60 dishes in one go just to fit it all in the day rate (which also adds time pressure on you). For this reason I am more inclined to charge per dish or per image but would love to know your thoughts on this. Many thanks!
@@TinHouseStudioUK Thanks for replying! Yes absolutely, that's why I am struggling with the concept of day rate. If their list of products exceeds what you can do in one day how would you address that to avoid being pressured/rushed? I just struggle with the boundaries of "day rate" and what it actually includes to avoid exploitation and make it a fair deal for both parties.
One more question base on this level " Mid size Client " would you list a Camera hire line or just roll it in as part of you day rate ? I just trying to figure out if you present one number or a break down of numbers to a client " I hope you get what I mean "
I do commercial product photography and sometime I need to do Photoshop work on images after shoot for example Multiple items in frame , removal of defects etc , Would you put PS work on seperate line item or would you included as one price.
