How to Price Garage Doors 

I have a question for you. You mentioned you mostly do commercial. I mostly do residential with my business and I like it that way, but I do some big doors from time to time. I did a 30x18 last week and It went ok, but obviously getting the panels in was the hardest part, we used a chain fall and it was pretty slow but safe and pretty precise. What method do you use for large panels and springs on doors like this?

If you are going to install a supplied door it's best to walk thru all details (hardware, tracks,door opening,back framing, what kind of operator and time frame) with the contractor/client cause this will not only help you decide whether you want the job or not but also gauge how much to charge. I know myself I can do a 9x7 door with weatherstrip in 3.5 hours if it's a properly back framed opening and if I gotta do a operator with a full wire job then thats an additional 1.5 hours to that job. So I would quote $500 in labor plus parts and $1.25 per mile one way outside a set radius.
