Fun! I’m researching this because I’m trying to design some magic tricks using receipts and cool things with receipt paper. I’ll let you know know if record a video of some good spectator reactions :) Thanks homie
You certainly can reuse receipts! The only thing to keep in mind is how old they are since the heat sensitive layer on top will eventually start to fade.
Good video, I have a question, is this possible to do with Epson's thermal printers? Because on them they have a set of characters that can be used + maybe possibility to put a logo but you managed to print a PNG onto that thermal printer
Thank you! As for the thermal printers, many are designed to work with Point of Sale systems that have no need for a full image recreation. So they just rely on character data to save resources. More advanced thermal printers, when paired with the correct drivers, can allow for full creative control over what is printed onto the page
@@backhaul-studiosAlright, thanks for the answer, about the one you used, in Amazon it says that it's a label printer, can I just put normal 80mm thermal paper on it? Was that what you did?
@CooperTUGA Correct! The one I used can print both shipping labels and regular 80mm receipt paper. But if you want a dedicated receipt printer option, I also have used this model: iDPRT Receipt Printer a.co/d/c2PqRHp
I haven’t tried to print with receipt paper in a normal printer, but an inkjet printer might be able to print on the paper without affecting the thermal sensitive layer
@@backhaul-studios Hm so printing on a receipt with inkjet works? Idk how inkjet works, only used a couple of times but the quality is always bad to be honest. I guess water marking / stamp marking the back of the receipt should do it. I want my receipt to have pinkish / rosy red heart with a blue text. I know some thermal colour printers do this but they are zebra brand so that means very expensive for my budget lol. Thanks for quick reply!
@@DirtyFan2 Oh interesting, I don't think I have ever seen receipts with different colored text, but that would look really cool if you are able to figure it out! Plus the stamp idea would be a really clever way to add different graphics!
This particular model only connects via USB. However, one thing to be careful of when looking for thermal printers, is the maximum DPI they are capable of printing at. I chose this particular model because it has a higher printing resolution than most typical receipt printers, as a result, the images look much better. In regards to working with a mac, double-check the manufacturers website to ensure they offer mac-compatible drivers for the specific printer you are looking at!
Make sure you have the correct drivers downloaded! Frequently the printer will only work with your computer once you have gone to the manufacturer's website, and pulled the correct driver to match your printer model!
