RU-vid is one of the best discovery platforms for podcasters. But to take advantage of it, you need to create video episodes that people actually want to watch.
ie. They need to look good.
I used to think the only way to do this was by spending hundreds (or thousands) of dollars per episode on professional video production and editing.
But after producing 30 video episodes of Podcast Marketing Trends explained, I’ve realized that producing high quality video episodes can be a lot cheaper and faster than you might think.
Here’s how we do it.

Thanks for the insight. I had no idea you edit so much out of your show. I need to get more aggressive...

Yes! I never used to edit out that much but once I started it was immediately clear how much better the episodes were.

@@podcastmarketingacademy do you find that's easier, given you and Justin have a specific goal/bullet points in mind and keep bringing it back to the topic? My show is an interview show, and I'm worried I'd cut something that provides context to a later comment.

@@gwcpas it could be, though I've done the same with interview episodes in the past. Usually there are both whole questions or lines of questioning that can be cut as well as condensing some of the discussion you want to keep in by removing repetitive bits or times when it begins to drag.

Wow! Thank for sharing this! I am new to Descript/Squadcast. What about your camera? You look so clear?

You're very welcome Stephanie! I use the Elgato Facecam Pro webcam which is really affordable and great quality with some useful software to dial in the picture further. One day I'll get a proper mirrorless camera, but for now, this is perfect 🤷‍♂️

@@podcastmarketingacademy no looks great, and I was just looking at that setup today because another podcaster told me about how they use the teleprompter I'm not sure how that works with the eyeliner though. While you are talking to guests are yall really just looking into the camera lens?
@podcastmarketingacademy

@@StephanieGraham Ah, yeah, I have the Elgato teleprompter as well which means the camera lens is right behind the guest's face. I got the teleprompter a couple months ago and I LOVE it for video calls (especially podcast recording).
