@@murdock8068 Yes, unless you get that key cut by a locksmith (if you want a cheap key from eBay or something similar) but still will need a programmer to program that key.
Thanks this video helped I swapped out my main driver side window switch and noticed my key wouldn’t lock or unlock my car , watch this video problem was solved 👌🏾
Worked great on a Honda Jazz 2007 mk1 with slightly different but original remotes which had had flat batteries for a long time- thanks! (Took a couple of tries on each one)
Take your key to the dealership and it’s 10.00 to cut and 75.00 to program the chip in it to start the car not just unlock the doors like this video is showing.
You have to still go to a specialized locksmith that does auto keys to cut the key. If you don't have an original key to copy then you are stuck going to Honda with your vin # and paying top $.
I always supported blue collar work and said you pay for their knowledge not their time but this shit is ridiculous a company estimated 350 dollars to do this. thank you for the internet
@@Tony-yn5un Too much. The trick this guy used actually does work, I'll admit that I was skeptical at first. Of course, it's always worth a try and I'm super happy I tried it because it would've been a hassle to get it programmed by someone else anyways.
Does will start the vehicle with the new key? and how you cut for a new key??. Theirs a lot of information missing as you still need to go to the dealership or have something to program the new key and get the key cut.
Recently i had to replace the ignition switch. I went with a oem used one that came with two original keys. My question is how do i reprogram my old remote to my lock switch
Same question. Came with the two dumb keys. Had to wipe all keys with my scan tool. Now, want the fob to work (even though the key isn't for the ignition)
What year was this civic? I have same car but a 2009. My understanding is we need to get the 'mobilizer' or chip to get it to work with the car. Not sure what year they started that. Is your civic older than a 2009?
Did you just program both keys at the same time? I'm afraid to do this because I read an instructional that said that programming the new key will blow away my old original key's programming. Is that true?
That programs the locks lol the lock smiths don’t charge for what the charge for is programming the key to the pcm smart guy ! Car won’t start with just doing this
Correct. Unless you have a 2 way scan tool that will program keys. I bought one cheaper than what the dealer would charge. And it has a lot of features.
The engine turn over but will not start. Just like when the car battery was dead. The dealer says the key 😢😢battery is good because the light on the key goes on. It will cost $180 to re program an $295 if I get a whole new key, This is highway robbery. What is in the key that makes me unable to drive? I didn’t know my key could ‘break’ What if w was far away from home and this happened? I had no idea . It was an accident that I had two keys the day one malfunctioned. Is what they say true? I am very wary because the outer case of my mirror was knocked off in a parking lot, I didn’t notice until I got home went to the Honda dealership where I had bought the car, the case cost $400+ $200 to install. There was no damage to the working part. I went to our old auto repair shop. He ordered the part $400 and installed for free. It literally took less than 5 minutes. It just snapped together.
Yeah not working for me either. Replaced the battery in my remote key after not using it for 6 months and it won’t work. 2006 Honda Pilot, but this still didn’t get the car to except the remote lock
The chip itself has to be programmed. You can do this and yes it will unlock the doors just fine and all that good stuff but it Will Not Start Your Car without the chip itself being programmed. I went through this myself. Bought two keys off eBay for like 15.00 dollars and I done this trick as well but had to have the little chip inside to start the engine for 20.00 to cut both keys and another 150.00 to fully program both keys.
i got a old car 2003 civic and there is a sticker which says its a remote starter installed in it and there is antenna inside car it might have remote starter but i don't have a remote so which one i will buy pls help me? and the antenna is working too there is a light which is on pls help me
😵💫 well, some internet search and the answer is No! the car will need some adjustments with new lock snd wires..too much work so I'll continue opening it the old way🤣
Just to think the dealer would charge 160+ to do this same thing should be criminal, locksmith said you need a new key fob, bunch of bologna! This easy fix works!
