How to Program a Sprinkler Controller (Hunter) 

Thank you. I was finally able to understand and set my sprinkler system. Purchased my house a year ago and could not remember how to set the sprinkler system. Thanks for your assistance.

I'm a 72 year old engineer with 38 years running my own business. My company has designed over 1,000 successful projects - from the world's first laser initiated armed firing device for the F-16 jet fighter to an instant water heater that has no heating elements (joule heats water with conductive plastic electrodes), to emission microscopes for the silicone wafer industry. This is one of the worst designed user interfaces, worst instruction manual, and least intuitive products I've ever come across. Without this video, I would have ripped this product out of the wall and hand watered my lawn with a garden hose. Thanks so-o-o much for showing me and the rest of the people leaving comments how this damn thing works!

thank you. I've been fighting with this unit for awhile. Reading manuals are difficult and time consuming . In less time than it would have taken me to find the manual and download it from the internet, you have showed me how to do it in less then 12 mins. Thanks a bunch.

Question - if zone 1 is my lawn and I want it to water daily, but zone 2 is my veggie garden and I want it to water every other day or m, w, f, how do I make the zone water at different intervals?

I've never had a sprinkler system before and my new house has this model, but I don't know what needs to go on at the valve level. Can you please advise me how to take care of the three valves I have buried in my yard vault? TiA

I followed the steps from the video, pushed three buttons and reset button, but it did not work. Houston got hurricane Beryl hit and lost power for 4 days. Now the controller is blank. I changed a new battery already. Just can't reset the controller. Thank you.

The reset you describe does not work on my Hunter XC model. Here's what worked for me per the manual: Clearing the Controller's Memory/Resetting the Controller If you feel you have misprogrammed the controller, there is a process that will reset the memory to the factory defaults and erase all programs and data that have been entered into the controller. 1. Press and hold down the button. 2. Press and release the reset button in the lower wiring compartment. 3. Wait 2 seconds and release the button. The display should now show 12:00 AM. All the memory has been cleared and the controller may now be reprogrammed.

I agree with Ivanhoe on this. The landscape guy installed this on our new home. Worst controller ever!! My rent house has an old Orbit controller for everything and it's super easy. I have a Rainbird for the lawn behind my shop and I have no trouble with it either but this Hunter design flat out sucks. Thanks for the video, I still haven't decided if I'll keep it or just replace it.

How do you use this controller for winterizing your sprinklers?

If I have # "1" start time at 8am and then 2-4 off for a-c will it run all stations sequentially at 8am or do I need to manually enter each stations start time?

Hi Guys, I set up my Hunter water sprinkler with the view to only have night time watering, whilst this part works I m still finding that the sprinklers are coming on after 7am. I m using only zone A, B and C are closed off. My timings for 1 2 3 and 4 are between 2 and 4 am. Run times 30 minutes. Please help me to understand as to why the sprinklers are firing at 7am, the time of day is correct. Regards Bill

When I try and adjust the run times it continually resets back to the default 4 hrs. When I go back to look at the run time before I turn it to run it is back at 4 hours. Any advice? I have the Hunter XC model.

my older xcore just stopped working- no display after changing battery and following the reset protocols- did it just wear out--- or am I missing something?- I could not find the reset button in the pic above-mine terminal shows that as a REM screw for a remote?- which I don't have a remote

My display is flashing AC. Power has been back for more than 24 hours. How do I clear it?

I need HELP!! I have 3 different areas (3 valves - front yard, back yard and drip lines). They all will have different times and days as we have new sod, fairly new sod, etc... I have been able to only program the backyard with 2 different times but it won't pull in the second or third. I have emailed Hunter they sent a diagram but it never shows a Program "C" which I'm assuming I would need. Can anybody help me before I rip it off the wall!!

This is so confusing!

Not using program b or c only works if you have one zone or station. I have one for yard plants and trees (a), one fir fruit trees (b) and one for annual flowers (c). So your video was not helpful in this case.

I appreciate the video but this still doesn't help me. I've been spending hours trying to figure this thing out and I still can't. I want to set my irrigation to water at 5am for 10 minutes every other day and my sprinkler to water 4 times a day for 2 minutes each but I can't figure it out to save my life, lol. I will pay someone through pay pal fifty dollars if they can help me figure this out. private message me if you are interested. Zone one is Irrigation, Zone two is my sprinkler. If you can help me figure this out I promise I will pay, I already had a technician come to my house and I still don't understand it.
