How to Program an Invacare Pronto & Ranger II Power Wheelchairs 

RECHARGING DEAD BATTERIES: I just bought a used Pronto M91 R SureStep Electric Wheelchair from a thrift store for my Dad. ​It had been there for a while and it's batteries were dead. ​When I would plug in the on board charger, it would not charge but instead flash Red indicating defective..... ​What I found is that the expensive batteries were still good, but that the onboard charger will not recharge the batteries if they are too discharged-low voltage state. ​What brought the batteries back to life was, I removed the seat and covers to the batteries. ​I disconnected the two battery quick release connectors cables. ​I connected an 10 amp automotive battery charger (use the deep cycle battery setting if it has one) each battery separately, for equal times(say 3 hours) BUT Not to a full charge-(Automotive battery chargers full charge to a higher voltage than what gel batteries tolerate). ​I then reconnected the batteries together and plugged in the onboard charger which now showed the yellow-charging mode and let charge overnight. ​The batteries are now full and seem fine. ​Hope this helps! ​

I'm guessing if the motors are going to be used in a project with an arduino and remote control there would be no point in programming unless the motors have a board inside. The remote on my chair is busted up and batteries are shot. I can do all the programming I need with an arduino or raspberry pi wouldn't you think?

What is he bottom port on the Ranger 2 used for. The top is for programming.

For anyone whose wondering whether or not it's worth it to get Hold of a programmer and adjust the settings on your pronto, let me just say absolutely 100 times over! Yes you can rent them still, from Victor through ebay, with a $300 deposit and it is worth 10x that. You can gain a good amount of speed by just turning up the speed and acceleration bit you gain even more by changing the ohms and the turning acceleration /deceleration and others. You can feel free to contact me for any tips but definitely do it without fail!

Settings are going to be different for each user. This isn't a bad instructional video at all. 2:30 in is the most important point. Don't go into standard settings if you want to save some of your old settings. This is free information that can help people. I don't understand why Mr. Whitlock considers this a Ripoff. I look forward to Mr. Whitlock's contributions to the alter-abled community's knowledge pool.

What is the top speed on your power chair after the programing I have a pronto M6 I want to make go faster since it was designed as an indoor power power chair but I use mine mostly outdoors?

I have a similar wheelchair that I think is locked but I don't have the lock button. I tried holding the power button down but it just turns off. There is a small flashing X ,yellow, at the bottom of the joystick. Please help me, if you can. Thanks David
