I totally enjoyed making and sharing this video!😊 Hope you like it! Have you used an XTOOL device to program keys to a Mercedes-Benz? What's your experience?
Fbs3 I guess. Pro tip sir: the key has two types the normal type which you have, and the proximity type. Same appearance but different internals. If you program the normal to a Push Start system it will program difference will be you can't use the proximity features (the push button on the ignition and door). Another thing worthy of note sir is after programming success, as you insert the infrared keys in the EIS you'll notice the red indicator light of the key blink that shows success. Beautifully done sir normally other RU-vidrs will take 15mins for this same job and 45mins for AKL procedure.
is autel coming out with a new system? looks like the IM 608 has seriously dropped in price... also what would you advise to do proximity keys and maybe diagnostics as well? would prefer not dealing with subscriptions
Excellent tutorial. I had the xtool pad3 and was not impressed. I also brought the kc501 which I never used. i did return the pad3, so i have a spare kc501. maybe ill give the IK618 a try. I currently use the Xhorse Key tool Plus, or the Autel IM508 +xp400. your video was easy to follow and helps beginners understand the process. Next video please do an all keys lost.
Very good question. I haven't tried, but I've heard other say it won't work. Seems to be more of an issue with the BE aftermarket keys. There's a dropdown for selecting if you want to make the key keyless but just not sure it'd work. If I find a Mercedes with Keyless, I'll attempt and revert. This tool won't program OEM mercedes keys though.
@@DIYAutoworksNG Thanks buddy, I would love to know the answer to this one! It was dealer only, but this was years ago before anyone had access to these autel and launch products.
Thanks for the compliment! I'd say you confirm from XTOOL's function coverage tool which can be found here. www.xtooltech.com/english/FunctionQuery.html
Yea. I think the aftermarket key played a significant role. I'll try and see if I can get a genuine OEM benz key. To be honest the AM key wobbled a bit in the infrared slot of the KC501, whereas the OEM fit snug with no wobble. I've also written XTOOL to check on their end as well, just in case. The only one clear thing I would say is definitely on Xtool was the omission of that instruction to plug the key back to the KC501 for password reading. The other XTOOL key programmers have that line of instruction. Knowing the speed of XTOOL customer support/tech team, I expect that it should be addressed speedily.
Hi master, is the fobik keys for Mercedes all the same. Im referring to the part that goes in the ignition. Not device/chip/mhz etc i know their different. Thank you in advance
Yes. D8, D9 can be used with the KC501. However, the IK618 is specialised for key programming and there will be some certain instances where it will have advantages. e.g. some Dodge keys
@@DIYAutoworksNG It is near impossible to figure out what cars are supported from their website, looking specifically for Benz x253 support. How about X100 PAD?
If you open the right links, the w253 should either be listed or not. On the site, select products, key programmers, select the device, scroll down select immobilizer and then click on the vehicle brand. If the w253 was produced after 2016, it's not supported. Right now, I don't know any 3rd party tool that can program mercedes keys from 2017 upwards.
Hey thanks for watching. This has to be done in person, so you'll either buy the XTOOL with the accessories, visit the dealer or engage a keysmith. For now, I regrettably don't have the structure to support commercial services.
Can IK618 programming tools installed a total lost key to ML 2015 Mercedes Benz. If the tools can and not available to do the installation, what are way round can a key be made available in such circumstances. Please, this is current situation am in as an Auto- key programmer. Thanks
I found out from the feedback you gave, suggesting Autel programing tools. Which Autel products mostly appropriate for programing Benz cars? I was once ordered for Autel DS 808 before I lost it. Now am really bothering how I could replace it with more sophisticated tools from Autel.
Please, my case is very urgent on this very findings. Am currently on the hot seat to install a genuine smart key for ML 350, 2015 Mercedes Benz. The Vehicle was cleared from importion a month
The IK618 will not program AKL for the 2015 ML. Autel will not either. I don't also think there's a 3rd party tool on the market that will program that car except Mercedes' in-house tool. I could be wrong, but that's what I've found so far.
Mind me asking how you find the ik608 Vs the d7 your videos on the d7 was enough for me to order one but only seen about the ik608 coming out after I ordered it
Both are good devices. It depends on the level of work that you do. The IK618 is the more advanced in terms of key programming and coding. But the D7 holds its own if you don't require these advanced features. The IK618 is almost 3 times the cost of the D7!
@@DIYAutoworksNG I have xtool d7 and pretty sure it doesn't program Mercedes key. I was looking to get the xtool x100 along with xtool m8021. Will these work just as well?
@@DIYAutoworksNG Can the Benz Dealer reprogram a used key to different vehicle (assuming same model) ? or is it just impossible? and can this device program a genuine Mercedes blank key?
I guess the dealer should be able to reprogram used keys but they may want to upsell you a brand new one. I'd just say you ring up a dealer and ask. The tool will only program aftermarket BE benz keys so it won't do a genuine blank.
