Okay I have a question. I bought a BRAND new FOB for my MK4. The only reason I’m going through this trouble is because my OEM fob is worn out. Now the newly purchased fob has an immobilizer chip of its own and I want to program it to my car. The part of the video where you put 3 keys in the VCDS program, do I put 1? Since I only have 1 key for the car. (Previous owner lost the others)
Thanks for all great videos. I hope you can help. I have a 2006 VW Touareg with "Immobil Activated" on the dashboard. Not sure if key has been deprogramed or what. Any help on how to fix this issue will be greatly appreciated.
This was Amaze. Just grabbed a 2000 MkIV (for drum hailing). Only came with a single key. Got a second, new key, and the company was great. They even cut it for me and copied the immobilizer, all for under 70 bucks total. Only thing I can't seem to find/figure out is how to get the remote part working for the keyless entry/hatch release, etc.. I am assuming the remote portion must have something to do with it being synced to the car using the Key~in~ignition method.. so will try this next. ( Had to do this with original key after the batteries rusted out. All fixed now).. Hoping the same can work with this new one. Anyway, Cheers man, This was super helpful. Best! Stay safe out there :)
Can anything make your immobilzier not work? I have been having issues with my car starting. I have been using my reg flip key and valet key. Sometimes one works and then won't and vise versa. I got a new ignition switch, and a key ring sensor. It started fine with the reg flip key for 3 days and now it wouldn't start for 4 days. Took it back to the shop and it only didn't start once. The code that shows when mine starts and shuts off is the car light with the key that you showed. Do you have any idea what it could be? VW GLS Golf 2006 2.0. Any advise would be extremely helpful. Thank you.
This does not make your old key transponders not work anymore? I read somewhere that when you rest the system the old transponders no longer work because it cannot rewrite them again after system has been cleared?? I only have a valet key and two new keyfobs with blank remotes and trying to decide the most economical route for me??
I have a 2000 vw Jetta and I lost the only key I had to the car period I have the blade part that will turn the cylinder but I don't have the chip. Can I still program the one key doing this also?
Hi, I am wandering if I remove the cars ECU then reinstall the same ECU Again, do I need to immobilize the key? because I did it and now the engine want start!
I have VCDS and want to get another key made. Can I get the Pin code from the dealer? If not can you give me a link to your other video on how to get the Pin code?

Is there a video or article about fails things to Reset after a VW Car is in a car accident front and/or rear crashes, related to fuel cut off switch or relays. Pls help
So after removing the battery because I was doing some fuse work and putting it back in, my Audi a3 won't start, exactly like in this video. It starts and dies with the glow plug light flashing... Thought that I broke the key somehow, got it checked and it is functioning absolutely fine, guessing the car forgot the key??
I found most scan tools including VCDS won't let you login to a system2 immo if there are any outstanding fault codes, so if you have any of the common VAG problems central locking, aircon, etc you may need to get it fixed before you can code a key. Remote fob coding not a problem though.
VAG EEPROM programmer retrieves these. Also VAG tacho. You need the appropriate diagnostic cable though. There are rumors that EEPROM programmer works with the same VAG COM / VCDS 4.09 cable, but it should be FTDI chip based and not Chinese CH341 chip based.
Hi my car doesn’t have remote key it’s normal standard vw key we lost the key got new key made from lock smith car is start now but center locking stop working . Can you please give some advise
My question is if I had a old key for my scrapped 2003 mk4 golf. Can I have it reprogrammed to this 98 new beetle? Or do I need a new key with new immobilizer?
Yes. All the info is in your cluster. Its always waiting to pair with its mate( a blank key) you need a scan tool and your pin code( youll have to researce that part) then pair them together. A mobile auto locksmith guy could do it for about 50 bucks
Hy dear brother thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge. I need help if anyone can I'll be appreciated. I'm stoked with a vw jetta 2019 all keys lost situation. How can i program a key with IM508 or 608 i got both. Via the Autel device instruction turning the ignition on automatically is required! It says To short connector steering column lock module. To turn the ignition on automatically.
One of my keys was stolen and I need to buy a new key and ideally change out teh cylinder. I want to keep immo intact if its a good idea. What should I do? Where can I get a new cylinder? I went to the dealer and they told me that they can only order the same one as the one already in my car. Please help me.
Very important to state which year your car is since there are at least 3 different versions of immobilizer for Mk4. My PIN code is unknown, dealer only stressed Radio code to me when I bought the car 21 years ago, he didn’t say a thing about the immobilzer 2 PIN.
The dealer should have issued a physical pin code encased in a plastic sleeve when you bought the car new. He should have handed this to you when he gave you the 2 new key fobs, the valet key, and owner's manual. I'm the original owner of a 2004 GTI VR6. My car dealership handed me all of these things and stressed how important it is to keep the pin code tag.
Recently I lost my 01 VW Jetta 2.0l key so what I did was I replaced he cylinder key lock and put one from a 2001 VW Jetta vr6 that had with the key and I replaced the computer as well or the ecm and once I went to try and turn it on the immbolizer light came on and doesn’t want to turn on...
i have 2014 vw jetta 1.8L push start button i bought from the auction wrecked it came with one key but does not run and its showing no keys on the system try to add a key with my Autel im508 once the procces almost done on last thing fail learning key any suggusting
3:40 The pin code should have been issued to the original purchaser of the vehicle. This came in the form of a paper tag encased in a plastic protective sleeve, about the same length as the key fob. Mine was handed to me when I was given the 2 new factory fobs and the valet key. Also, if you have the original OEM owner's manual, there's a section that shows what the pin code tag looks like. If you're buying one of these cars used, ask for and expect to receive this tag, the same way you would expect to receive the keys. If they can't provide it, use this as a negotiating point on the price of the car. Buying the car without this very small tag is like buying the car without keys. Don't let it happen.
You have to use a "VAG TACHO" Tool to retrieve your "PIN NUMBER". It is a 4 digit code, but when you are programming your new keys, you have to enter a ZERO first. The Vag Tacho can be rented, but they require a $500.00 Deposit, which is refunded when the get their tool back.
$200 to my papal account and i will tell you. It's been a year so you've probably figured it out. vag commander and instrument cluster dump will reveal this deep dark secret that everyone's been hiding from you.
Advice needed: I've got an old Volkswagen Polo Mk.4 1995. The immobiliser has been turned on with a separate remote control which we've lost, and the only key we have is old and I think it doesn't have a microchip, so for the moment we can't start the car at all. Can we buy a new modern remote key with a blank microchip, and get a mechanic to get into the VW instrument cluster program and pair the key with the immobiliser? We've been told that modern keys have different transformers etc. so they can't be paired, and since we don't have any microchipped keys to copy, there's no way they can program a new key. Also that they don't make the immobiliser remote anymore. But this video would seem to suggest we can pair new keys? Can anyone advise?
I have the 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit and it came with the valet key when I bought it ,each time that I want to start this car it cranks as if it will start then stop,I bought the key with a remote and called a key maker to cut the new key and program it together with the old one but unfortunately the car is still doing the same thing. My question is that what could have gone wrong, could it be that the ecu/ecm is bad. I will really appreciate your help.
I replaced a 2000 vr6 engine, and wondering the same. My new key from dealership will not turn starter. Im gonna swap ecu from wrecked car, and see what happens next.
My car audi a3 2002. year was stolen. I found and returned the car, but now the immobilizer light flashes constantly. The car can start with any key. The immo light flashes all the time while the engine is running. How do I fix this?
My battery on Volkswagen polo died and I buy new one but now light on remote key don't work, and even i cant unlock or lock car remote is there any solution?
I stopped @3:54 because at this point, I realized that my problem is solved. I bought a key fob case, I transferred the remote key board thinking that it contains the immobilizer. Silly me! and kept on trying to adapt it,....... ya right that's funny. Thank you for this wonderful post.
My ignitions switch turns half way forward and won’t start my car 2011 Jetta se. When turning the key it does let me move the steering wheel, but the key doesn’t turn all the way back to the off position and let’s me take the key out. If I replaced just the ignition switch do I have to recode the key or reprogram anything else afterwards? Anybody had that problem? All the videos about replacing ignition switch doesn’t mention any of that. Thank you guys.
Ignition switch replacement doesn't require reprograming as it's just a simple inexpensive switch with electrical contacts. Replacing the Ignition Lock requires reprograming the Throttle Position module with VAG software or your car will start but run for only a couple seconds, just like an Immobilizer failure.
My VW GTI 2007 Key stopped working out of no where!!!? showing the "immobilizer activated" error. My 2nd key works fine and starts the car?? anyone know how a key could just fail out of no where??
I was told to program my 2005 VW beetle requires a vin spacific VW key. They told me I would then have to remove the dash in order to diagnostly reprogram my immobleizer key. I was also told the key could only be purchased at VW as it is vin spacific. By the time I was done it came to just under $500.00. I feel I 2as totally ripped off! Can anyone tell me if I was? When I picked up my car, the auto door locks rarely open or lock remotely, even after my costly new remote!
Nah that's about the going rate for a vw or Audi key. I charge that for some Ford keys. That's cut, programmed and service call. Audi/vw keys aren't easy to program.
My MkV 1.9 TDI BRM will not start. I found that the car is shutting down the low pressure fuel pump after about 1/2 second. Why would it be doing this unless the immobilizer is activating?
@@jutsu712 Yes, although a lot of people don't know that. They would think from this video title that there is a manual none computer/OBDII way to do it.
