this video is very helpful! thank you - makes me 're-think' about who my client is and why i should be focused on them rather than my needs... thanks again!
Hi Jonathan, this video was exactly what I needed for where I'm at in my journey. I have a real specific question - in terms of instagram or twitter, do you belive in "re-branding" yourself as a composer? I have a decent following on instagram but it's all social or other connections. I then have a site with a composing name, would you suggest starting a new instagram account from scratch and having that dedicated to my composing endeavors? Rather than blasting my friends with music and promotions they probably aren't as interested in?
Hey Daniel! Honestly, I know composers who do both approaches (social vs professional accounts). For me, it boils down to whether or not you want to use Instagram for SOCIAL reasons too. If you do, it's probably best to have two separate accounts. If you only want to use it for professional stuff, then go ahead and use your existing account (it could be worth doing a post to explain to your followers what your plan is, and that they're likely to only see composing-related stuff from you from now on).
@@JulienOBER Yep, ReverbNation is definitely a step up from SoundCloud in terms of professionalism. ReelCrafter is great for Film & TV showreels too - allowing you to track whether or not people have actually listened, and great custom playlists and things.
