There's so many great things in this video. I'm so glad I stumbled upon it! I struggle with promoting my books at times. You saying that we as authors see all our posts but our visitors| the audience only see(s) some of them, it's an eye opener! I sometimes think I've made too many posts and I'm annoying people posting too many times about my stories. And then it's a bit frustrating when I talk to other people and they don't even know I had a certain book out, or any at all. It's so strange.😅 I don't mind talking about my books, I think it's paramount as authors to do that because it potentially puts our books in front of other (new) readers. It's just so awkward sometimes.😂 It's great to know others are struggling with this and have great tips to offer.😊 Thank you! Take care!🤗
Great video. This is definitely an area I struggle with, and I totally agree about the role of Imposter Syndrome here. It's so true that most of us don't get annoyed by hearing about books and creative projects by others, and we do really want to hear from the writers we've chosen to follow. Yet, we still tend to assume that we need to promote our own work less than we do. Thank you for the positive encouragement. It all makes sense, and it helps to hear this message. 😀❤💖
This is such a great episode! I’m still learning and trying to figure all of this out. If you’re not excited about your own work/creations.. think about how that’ll convey to someone else.. how can we expect them to be excited if we aren’t even excited. It matters! 🙂
This is so helpful. No matter how much thoughts, time, energy, or knowledge I put into my writing (or anything really) I always feel like somehow it’s not enough for the consumer. This was really inspiring. Thank you both for your time and insight.
My issue is not diffidence but ignorance. I have no idea how to use Facebook, for instance. I know this strains credulity with young people who use these apps as a natural instinct. But not only didn't I know how to set up a page on Facebook, I still haven't figured out how to navigate, put up a post, pin a post, etc., much less how to advertise. So many 'experts' behave as though this is common universal knowledge. "It's easy," is the mantra. May I point out that there are people with college degrees in publicity, advertising, and marketing? But I am supposed to master all of these fields (along with statistical analysis of marketing tool results AND financial analysis) in a few weekends with nothing more than reasonable intelligence and a good attitude. So, not only do I fail (repeatedly) but I feel REALLY stupid because this is deeply confusing and overwhelming to me.
I HATE when you’re struggling with something and someone proclaims “it’s so easy!” 😩 I had a kid do that to me in my Algebra 2 class lol. The cool thing about today’s online world is that you can find a tutorial on just about anything these days. I found this one this morning and thought I’d share - hope it helps 😊 … ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--p5aPPFUf0c.html
WAIT ARE THOSE ABBIEE'S OLD BOOKSHELVES?! WHY AM I JUST REALISING THIS? WHY DOES THIS MATTER TO ME? (okay, I just saw what I did with that last sentence but that was unintended, lmao)
hey I know this doesn´t have anything to do with this episode, but you said we can suggest topics, so here´s one I´m only at the beginning with my story and I´m wondering how do you actually use the 3 act story structure, like when I´m plotting it´s great, but I wonder how do you implement it into the actual writing? Do you do one plot point a chapter?
