How to Pronounce 의: 3 Different Sounds! (and 으) 

The diphthong ㅢ (의) can make different sounds depending on where it's placed within the word:
It's pronounced 의 when at the front of a word.
It's pronounced 이 when in the middle of a word (or after a consonant sound).
It's pronounced 에 when used as a possessive particle.
