There ARE five sounds in linguistic but as long as you speak in Mora syllable rhythms, and the N sound is similar to what we hear, you won’t get any troubles to communicate with native speakers 😊 and thanks for watching 🥰

In short: ん represents the general context-dependent voiced nasal. Even in something like 千円 where it's not very 'n-like'.

Yes! If you want to sound like a native, this is one of the trick to remember 😊

For 日本も it does not seem like you use an 'm' sound and instead it sounds like a nasal vowel. Do you agree with this?

That’s actually a syllable problem. When you pronounce M sound instantly, it’s like you “CUT” the sound by closing your lips and that’s the real M sound, but in Japanese, it’s always pronounced on the “Mora Syllable” so you have to wait until you pronounce “mo” sound between N and M sound in the word “nihonmo”. So when you write this sound, it’s like Ni, Ho, N, Mo. and you need to make sure you pronounce each sound to the same length. That’s why you hear the nasal sound and it’s actually a nasal sound since there’s no way to pronounce the M sound for the length of ONE beat. Since you’re hearing this correctly, you’re so good at listening comprehension 🥰🥰🥰

I'm a little confused and hope to get an answer. So there is a difference in the pronunciation of ん between 本, 本を and 本です. Or this rule only applies to ん when appearing in a word.どうもありがとうございます.
@JapanerdPal
@JapanerdPal Месяц назад
This rule applies to ん and small っ and those are always affected by the next sound. For example, 本 is ending with ん sound so N (closing lips / opening lips nasal sound) is the right sound. But 本です is connecting で sound, so in this case, your tongue touches to upper jaw and say n sound like in English n sound. Small tsu is the same concept. So as a summary, you’ll pronounce the sound depending on the next sound.

great i came here to run away from kanji that has few pronunciation, but yeah even "n" word has 5 pronunciation
@JapanerdPal
@JapanerdPal Год назад
Haha yeah! But “n” sound is easier! If you can pronounce consonant “n” such as “na” “ni” “nu” “ne” and “no” , large N, and “m” sound, most of Japanese people won’t notice if you mispronounced!
