Here is a video about how to crimp your leaders. I have been crimping leaders this way for a while and have never had any crimps fail or have the leader pull through. The largest fish landed so far with this method was an estimated 400lb goliath grouper.

Would you use this single crimp method on 1-16th inch aircraft cable?

Kirk Meyers yes, but use black crimps for cable. Not the silver aluminum ones

I have seen many comercial sold leaders crimped the wrong way, as you demonstrated . Talk about a Training issue.

Tie a knot, dude! No need to crimp 50lb mono, crimping only needed for thicker monos when the knot gets unwieldy. 80lb and up

How do you crimp single barrel into a loop for 30 lb mono?

I stay away from the single barrels because it’s difficult to get the mono to sit neatly to get a good crimp done. With 30lb mono I would recommend tying a simple loop knot.

@@TarponWorld thanks. A friend of mine that grew up near the coast used single barrel but I'm starting to think it was just to hold floats or weights in place.

Awesome. I'm completely retarded they way you said not to do is the way I have been doing it and I have caught lots of tuna. Thank you for a great video! Thankfully I didn't lose many from gear mess up
