I’m no mechanic but it clearly depends on the surrounding temperature and age of the battery. I’ve come back to a dead battery even after a month, let alone 4 months.

@YOUCANIC
@YOUCANIC 4 месяца назад
Thanks for reaching out! Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery may prompt the car's computer system to reset causing a check engine light. Often, it'll turn off after driving some distance, allowing the computer to recalibrate. If the light persists, drop by Youcanic for further troubleshooting advice and recommendations. At www.youcanic.com, you'll find useful guides, free resources, our powerful YOUCANIC scanner and even factory repair manuals to support your car maintenance journey. We're here to help you feel confident under the hood.

What is defined as a long time? You mentioned 2-3 months... How about 2-3 weeks? Still recommend to disconnect?
@YOUCANIC
@YOUCANIC Год назад
Most cars will discharge the battery partially in that time but not enough for the car not to start. Unless there is a parasitic draw. If you want to be safe and have a car that starts I would recommend to disconnect.
