For people who, like me, have had problems: 1. If nothing happens after clicking on "Add Principled Setup", it is because you must first select the "Principled BSDF" node and then click on "Add Principled Setup". 2. If your model remains black after performing all the actions, you must set the "Alpha" parameter of the "Principled BSDF" node to 1.
Hello everyone, I'm in Blender 4.0.1. If you don't see the Node Wrangler in the right side tabs, I saw the Node Wrangler appear in Shader Editor (same editor where you see the nodes), meaning you have to change the editor type. Shortcut to select Shader Editor is Shift+F3. You can have multiple windows open, so one side is the selected object and the other side is the nodes. As for me, it is tricky since if it's a model with lots of separate parts, I realized you pretty much have to select separate parts of the model, make sure principal BSDF is selected, select an image texture, and repeat until you have imported the textures on everything. It is a tedious process. You may see "no matching image found", it could be because the image texture doesn't fit that part of the model so you'll have to try a different part of the model. For me, I am working with an OBJ model and there's multiple parts so I've been clicking on separate models and doing a trial/error until I get all image textures imported.

you have to get the file, and extract the file into wherever u want for example desktop and once its extracted you go to import in blender and go to DAE and find it, in said "desktop" or wherever you put it and if you go through the car you should find it and if you cant then you cant import it
Excellent tutorial on importing textures. However, the biggest problem that I often run into is at the other end: Getting the other tool (which in my case is 3ds Max) to *export* all the mapping files so that Blender can import them. If anyone knows how to get 3ds Max to export in FBX or DAE along with all of the model's map files, I'd really appreciate hearing from them.

if anyone gets the "No matching images found" that just means that the files that you are using are not named properly for the auto detection to tell which is the base color, which is the normal etc... All you need to do is go into the node wrangler options and edit the tags, just add in the tags that are used in your texture files.
My exported models (.blend, .obj, .fbx) are loading in blender just fine with the texture, but when loaded in other software they don't have the texture on. While loading other models from the internet in the same other software they have the textures on, why?
@@RobertBarker-gz2ds I didn't do much of anything lately, but i must say that this happens maybe not randomly, but occasionally that it doesn't work like one would like it to, you can follow a few other tutorials on youtube and see maybe the others will give you more info than the others, and you might be able to achieve the results you want, you might get the same bad results as me cause of the different Blender versions that we use and the ones that the people on youtube are using. So in short, sometimes it works just fine sometimes is not, i don't know what else to say, maybe we forget a step or two in the process. In any case, Blender is a great tool no matter what.
@@Skyspecter I found an earlier version that allows you to but you have to switch from old to new version and i still have honestly yet to see if it even works switching old version to new version or vise while designing something.
hey guys i couldn't find my node wrangler tab for the longest time; then i hit a teeny lil arrow in the shader tab next to my nodes, not my viewport. hope that helps someone
@@target5287 im really unexperienced so waht do you mean by win rar? is it an addon or something you gotta find in files? and what do you do after unzipping it?
@@thegodzillafandomsrookie5514 You probably already figured it out, but WinRar is a program that allows you to extract and unzip files like .zip and .rar files. You need to use it on that .zip file and then import the mesh file that is in there, as well as its textures.
@@thegodzillafandomsrookie5514 kinda late but winrar is a program which unzips files. .zip is a compressed version of the files commonly used for online downloads since it reduces the size dramatically. (note: winrar will ask you to pay, its just a suggestion, you dont have to.)

You create this video which is going to be used by people unfamiliar with how it works but then you get through it so quickly just clicking away and expect people to be able to catch on. Unrealistic. Maybe you assume some will just watch it over and over again and you get time and views that way but myself and others I suspect will abandon and look elsewhere. If you are going to do such videos perhaps you can keep your users in mind when you just speed through the process.
lmao all of this just to change a texture. why not have the texture already when you import the character lol. this is not beginner friendly. nice video though. ill come back in like 2 years in order to see what all of this means 🤣
wow I thought game development would have been farther along where you can literally just import the model textured and all but I guess the people who make these programs are not smart enough to make that work hilarious I dislike it but fortnite does a better job at importation and implementation that makes it user friendly this this is a cesspool
