I have had a lot of questions as to how to properly install the Kase Revolution Inlaid Ring and in this video I show you how to do it easily and correctly. There are even instruction manuals included with the rings! I also talk about how I use the filters for convenience.

I like the Revolution Kase filters, but I do have the Wolverine filters at this time. I have some pretty huge lenses and I buy one 112mm filter kit and use step up rings and use the 112 mm filters on all lenses. Pretty simple and I love them. So easy to use. A kit for me in the Revolution filters cost about $1200.00 and that's not cheap. Thanks for sharing...Peace

That is the only bad thing. The Wolverine series works so well. A $1200 expense can be tough for sure.

Ordered the Kase Revolution filters to replace my way-to-weak Freewell magnetic filters, and they are so much better. I use permanent screw in UV filters and the inset ring allows me to use any UV or Clear filter as a base for the Kase Revolutions magnetic filters. (I don’t put a UV or clear filter on the 200-600 as it affects IQ. Not so with my other lenses). The Kase Revolution magnets are strong enough, I may swap the screw in UVs for magnetic ones. Just ordered some ND100000 for the eclipse. The only issue I have come across with Kase is the CPL filter seems to scratch very easily. I’m on my second one.

I've not had any issues with scratching. Does it happen while photographing or transporting them? I used UV filters on the windy beaches in Iceland, and surprisingly, they didn't scratch.

@@davidakoubian3025 I find that while using a CPL filter with a magnetic cap, it is rather difficult to get the cap off without pulling the CPL filter off with the cap. I stack the filters for carrying like you do, and I’ve never had the bundle fall apart, so I doubt it got scratched in transit. More likely during use, but I’m not sure how.

Hi David, nice video. But just assume I have a friend who’s having trouble getting an inlaid ring out from a Nikkor 135mm lens. He recently got his first set of Kase filters, in practising their insertion / removal he fitted the ring easily just as you describe. In trying to remove it he used the 3D ring tool, got it engaged on the inlaid ring with no problem, but then was unable to turn it. He applied a little pressure and it started to unscrew, but then became stuck. The inlay now looks slightly skewed - misthreaded. How would you proceed to remove it from here on?

In the past, when I would have a filter get stuck, I would put the entire lens in a freezer for a little while. The metal should contract and loosen it up. Try gently going in bothe directions to see if it frees it.

Thanks David. I tried that today. There was only slight movement of the ring. I’m now at the stage of feeling any more straining on the ring tool on my part may risk damage to the lens. I’m going to try my local Wex photo store as next step.

What if you use a step up ring? My lens has a 82mm thread and I’m using a 82-95mm step up ring (Ive ordered the 95mm ND revolution filters to prevent vignetting) do I even need the inlaid ring? Because A the inlaid ring will just stick to the step up ring (can’t tighten it because there’s nothing to screw) and B all the filters will just snap onto the step up ring itself. And what’s the meaning of the adapter ring that comes with it? I’m so confused 😅

So my understanding is that with the Revolution series step up rings don't really work. There is space beyond the inlaid ring that you can use an adapter, or step up ring for either the traditional Wolverine filters or for instance the Close Up filter. I have found that even with 17mm filters I get no vignetting with the inlaid ring as it sits so far into the lens front.

When all else fails, read the manual. 😜
