Much thanks. If you get a chance, watch the anime Hell Girl. Don't let the title scare you off. It has much to do with a torii gate. I will be building one soon.

Have some respect to countries that aren’t america Jesus, you Americans just think everything goes your way
@Bretaxy

@@fuhuasluv I’m not even American, how does this ‘disrespect the country’? I’m sure there are plenty of cultures in Japan, but me disrespecting one tiny thing doesn’t mean I disrep the country. Having to bow down before every gate is slow and probably not good for your back if you do it so often.

This "ritual" adopted signifies that you accept the cult of Shinto, its belief in Kami and everything pagan along with it! In which case you are either ignorant of the Western teachings of a personal, propositional Being who is paramount in the three Monotheistic religions of the West, ( or just being respectful - which confirms that you give it validation). I would strongly suggest you do a thorough study of world religions before you start bowing and paying homage to all sorts of strange beliefs. During my travels in the Middle East I refused to enter an Islamic Mosque because having read the Quran and Hadith I recognized what their attitude was towards the "infidel". Eastern Religions are more benign because it's focus is more on inner development, but still whether it's Tibetan Buddhism, Zen Buddhism or Shintoism, "demons", "Tengu" and other "spirit beings" will find an opening to someone with a gullible, willing spirit. Whether you are aware of it or not, there is a "spiritual warfare" going on. Just ask anyone who has spent considerable time with a 'Ouija Board' or the 'black arts'!

Hey Egon, did you know that Pope Francis (also known as the speaker of *god*) has gone on record saying that all religions are a path to god? he actually said this a few months ago! as seen here catholicherald.co.uk/news/2019/02/05/pope-signs-declaration-saying-god-wills-religions-pluralism-what-does-this-mean/ Your belief in saying that every other religion is false is also against the bible! Such as in Philippians 2:3 "Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." And was it not the Lord, Jesus Christ himself who commanded upon us all, "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." And am I not to mention that these "demons" that you speak of are not worshipped as you think they are? The Yo-Kai and Kami are separate from each other. Yo-Kai are spirits that make the unexplainable happen, while Kami the sacred spirits take shape of nature and life, forming into rivers and mountains as the lord formed into a human man. And after all, who is to say that all paths are not a road to god? The Pope has said they are, Jesus has said they are, the BIBLE has said they are. Just ask anyone who has spent considerable time with the bible and people from around the world.

That was so hard to read. Let people practice what makes them happy. Don't force things on other people, it's just rude.

@@someonekul6391 The world needs more people like you good sir. Combating xenophobia/religious discrimination with facts and quotes rather than using hate or trying to abase a person in the process. I think it's simple. If you're visiting another culture simply adhere to their traditions while you are there as a show of respect. It doesn't mean you have to take on their beliefs, it just shows a willingness to be open minded and learn about other cultures by experiencing them first hand.
