I do x4 for retail. I don't do wholesale right now. But that puts my right around the average for the market, so I'm happy with it. 😊

I use the 8oz Anchor Mason Jars Clear sides with Gold Caps (or 1/2 Pint which hold 7.9oz)...I was thinking $13.00 a Candle for mine so I was right on the money with that...I've seen a lady on Etsy selling them for $3.50 each she can not be making any money on those candles..I've since switched from the regular 8oz Mason Jars which seemed to not sell as well around here for that price. The lowest I was getting was $9.00 and was cutting myself short. I use the same method you do except I am not doing wholesale at the moment. I am revamping my entire business right now but have a question for you. I want to make my own wooden Wicks and have tried the Popsicle method in Olive Oil but they don't seem to stay lit even with 1/8" cut. Do you have any advice for me on those if not it's all good. Thanks for the great videos.

I really love the wood wicks from Lone Star Candle Supply. I have also seen a bunch of people selling their candles for really low prices, I don't know how they're making money either. Unless they are getting all supplies for free, they're losing huge amounts of money.

Hey Jeff, First, I appreciate your content. It is very informative. Secondly, when you give out your wholesale prices to vendors, are you factoring in shipping as well? I have had multiple inquiries for wholesale pricing and I understand how to price them.. I am just a little confused as far as shipping costs.

Hi Jeff, do you recommend any kind of contract? Do you put restrictions on the wholesaler? Like if I sell the candle on my site they can’t sell it for more that I would retail it.

I really appreciate your videos. I'am having an issue with the cost of making my candles. My candles are 12 ounce and cost me around 8.00 to make.( which really makes me nervous) I purchased 72 candle containers with lids .. The problem is the shipping cost. It cost me 117.00 just to have them shipped. I live in South Carolina and there are no candle making supply companies near me. After watching your video and understanding that your cost are so much lower It concerns me that my cost are almost 3 times more. Any advice you could offer regarding suppliers etc that my be easier to work with would be greatly appreciated.

I make 350 grms per candle, so my costs are little bit higher. I double de price for the wholesale at bazars, think my cost is to high when selling retails, and I'm afraid customers aren't gonna pay for what I ask. Any advise?

I’m finding through research that lot of people in the wholesale world will not accept anything less than 50% of what you list your product for. So if I’m selling a candle for $15, I could sell it for $7.50 to a wholesaler. However it costs me 4.85 to make one 10oz candle, not even including labor. So I would be getting 2.65 a candle when selling wholesale which doesn’t even seem worth it to me. If I do it the way you have it though, then I would make a reasonable amount. Have you sold to wholesalers that are okay with you pricing it that way (cost to make x2)?
@StandleyHandcrafted
@StandleyHandcrafted 3 года назад
I would raise your retail prices so that you can charge X 2 for wholesale and make your profit.

Thanks Jeff! Do you think it's ok to have different prices of your candles in different locations, i.e. when you sell qt the market, when you sell on the website, when you sell wholesale, on Instagram or even another location wholesale? If your brand grows, do you think it's ok for the cost to fluctuate or it's better to have 1 price for wholesale and 1price for retail and stick to it. Thank you so much for your wisdom :)

I have a question do we not include electric cost and rental cost into costing the candle?
@StandleyHandcrafted
@StandleyHandcrafted 5 лет назад
You would include those costs into the entire operation, but don't need to be included in the candle cost. You can figure that out separately from the candle. I also left costs like that off this because that will be different for everyone.
