I've gotten a few questions on how you clean a cage like this, well I also have a video on that here! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JFep1JycdVA.html
@@Y2KkAiKoI’m hoping you got the answer you were looking for, but she mentions at around 2:25 that Robos need more sand due to their habitat in nature. I’ve seen people advocate for up to 50% sand for robos.
I like how Victoria used to advocate for bigger is better, but now she advocates for “ the enrichment, the better”. Which is so important(no i’m not saying to have a small cage!)
I have a cage with 1,500 sq inches, and my hamster always wanted more enrichment and stimulation. So yes, I had to move around her toys to keep her busy. I also had to frequently give her herbs and sprays to forage, and she was still stubborn about having new toys! She was such a greedy little ham. I loved her so much.
Tip of for Noobies: Don't forget the lid she shows on the beginning. Hamsters have poor depth perception and may try to climb out of enclosures. Without the lid on, they could end up hurting themselves especially if there's things inside to help them scale the walls of the enclosure.
I just wanted to say that your videos have helped me so much. When I first got my hamster he was living in a tiny full cheeks cage, but after I little bit of time I went on RU-vid and found you. I got a new bin cage with 475 square inches of floor space. I got a new big wheel, more beding, and much more. My dad is still not convinced and says that hamsters don’t need all that stuff and it makes me so sad when he says that. ❤
i have a dwarf hamster called badger who lives in the linmon (i recently upgraded from the savic plaza) but i’m so glad you did an updated one because even when i’m providing a lot for my hamster i still worry i’m missing something
just got a hamster today on an impulse because the pet store was closing out and i didn’t want it to get thrown out if no one got it. i bought the largest hamster cage from the store just for the time being. but will be buying a bigger enclosure for her soon. this video is super helpful in letting me know what my hamster needs! thank you!!!!
I just found your channel over the weekend after I bought a hamster from Petco (with a cage) 😖 I legit had no idea how bad it was. Thank you for these videos, I now have her in a bin cage thats 600 sq in and 6 in of bedding! You were essential in this learning process! Thank you so much! ❤ btw my dwarf hamsters name is Wednesday and she’s the cutest 🙂
Girl, you don’t know how desperately I needed this. Thank you! I’ve been struggling to decorate my enclosure for awhile now, I didn’t know where to put anything!
Love the step by step explanations of the setup. 💘🐹 The white paper bedding looks so pretty and you made it stand out more with a bit of color from the hides. Also, relaxing to watch as usual 😊
A nice video about the basics. This is great for sharing it with new hamster owners so they can start with good hamster care from the begining. It´s great that you also explain WHY you should do or use something so everyone can follow. ^^
You're awesome! Looking forward to when my son becomes a bit older and we have a bit more space to properly own a hamster. We love your vlogs and all the information you provide. Thank you! ❤
We did it! After 2 weeks our little Marble is finally in a natural enrichment enclosure! I knew something was off when he kept nipping at his "2 floor cage" which you talked about before! We have gone detolf off marketplace, and its lovely to see how many detolf enclosures are posted in my city! It took me another 5 days to get more bedding and sprays, it was so fun to give him a "smell preview"... and he happily crawled right in to explore. Amazing to see how far a "pressed" 82L bag goes!!! Thank you, your channel is one of our favorites!
I have has 2 hamsters in the past and they both died so soon... After watching your vidios i realized what i has done wrong and getting a 3rd hámster 🐹 soon!!! Super happy and so greatful FOR you and your channel
thanks for this video victoria! it's a nice refresher for me as it's been over a year since my last hamster passed and now im looking into rescuing one
Great reminders. Two of my Syrians passed away in January and then March, so I am now ready for new occupants for my enclosures. I hope to adopt two dwarfs from a rescue this coming week, so I need to finish wiping down the enclosures and set them up again. As much as I enjoy my current Syrian's antics, I have become accustomed to having more than one hamster since they seem to take turns being out versus doing their thing underground.
First! My hamster Hermione loves to burrow underneath her wheel platform 😂 I'm in love with the cactus hide and the ceramic sand bath! 🥰 I love your editing!
I've been watching a lot of your videos lately in preparation for getting my first hamster. Having a cat or dog isn't an option for me right now so I kind of had the initial reaction of "well, that sucks, that's all the good pet options gone!" Till I saw my friend who really loves hamsters and put a lot of research into them before getting theirs, and thought it might be the right idea for me! I've got a list of lots of things I'll want to get (regularly updating as I get ideas from your videos + my friend). I'm excited to start saving up for one
I’m a new hamster owner. I got my hamster yesterday and I realized my cage is too small. So I’m gonna save up money and then use this cage idea : ) but I’m kinda panicking cuz I know my cage is too small but I don’t have much money right now. But I’m really saving up. Im still a child but I’ll try to save up as quick as I can. Im just kinda stressed
Don’t worry! I am a new hamster owner too! My cage is way to small and I am making him a bin cage this month! Try selling stuff or putting things on the market to make money. I hope I helped and don’t worry!!
I added a hideout to my hamsters enclosure and he was a little bit unsure of going inside because he had never used one before but so far he has got used to it and he's sleeping inside so I think he will be using it a lot more often
Your the the best you have made millions of hamsters have an incredible life! I said to my mum about when my hammy was alive she needs more things Victoria raechel said it’s not the size that matters😂 your the only hamster RU-vidr that cares alot about your hamsters and your animals.I’m sure everyone is grateful for you helping there hammys
You read my mind Victoria! I'm fixing my hamster cage and baking used hammy supplies in the oven so I can set it up. I'm planning on a new addition in July...hopefully a boy!
I’m not sure if you will see this since the video is from 3 months ago, but I’m considering getting a hamster and I’m super excited and want to give it the best life possible! The only thing is, I’m not sure where to find a lot of the stuff that I need for them. like the wooden chambers, hides, proper sprays/food, chew toys, or the wooden bridges and sticks for climbing. If you see this, could you help me out? Thank you, I love your channel and the care you put into taking care of your little pets!
Hey Victoria, I’m so glad you made a video about this!! 😁 I’m setting up my Syrians hamster cage in a hour also and I was thinking how should I set it up! Love your channel, I hope you read this!!🥰sorry I’m late..😌
I don't have hamster cases, I'm a fish and shrimp keeper. I always assumed none of the hamster cages in the pet store would be suitable. I really do want to try to set up a hamster habitat that mirrors Waddles enclosure.
Hi Victoria! Could you make a video on how to safely and calmly change a hamsters cage? Maybe it’s too stressful for them but I’m thinking one getting my dwarf hamster a new and bigger cage! Thank you❤
Beautiful!! You should make a video on cleaning the enclosure. Seeing an enclosure this massive can seem daunting to new owners when it come to how and when to clean.
My hamster passed away today and eventho I feel bad for not crying as much as I did when my first one did, I'm glad she doesn't have to be in pain anymore. I didn't have enough money to treat her at the moment and I regret not saving enough money for her. I got them as birthday presents (sounds wrong because they're not inanimate objects, they were living beings) and I wasn't a good parent to them. I'm watching your videos to cope and to teach myself more so I can be a better parent if I ever want to take in a hamster again in the future
That's good, that's how I want to make the enclosure for the hamster that I really want to have, that's how well I'll do it. You gave me ideas, greetings from Chile 🥰🥰
Thank you so much!! I was trying to get a new hamster- (rip Lexie and Basil- no they weren’t in the same cage and I had them at different times) and this’ll really help me with the enclosure!!
Hi Victoria Raechel it's me, Nicholas. I've been watching your videos and you taught me good hamster care and I recently got my own hamster- Moonfruit. I live in England thankyou.
Since I was having problems finding sand without additives at my local stores, I found another alternative: walnut sand (made from walnut shells--I use Zilla brand). All my dwarves have enjoyed digging and rolling in it as well as using it as a litter box. No dust, either! When first introduced, they will nibble a few pieces, but quickly discover it's not as tasty as it smells. Compostable as well.
Do you use a small food dish like for veggies you feed hamster? Cus I feed my hamster like fresh veggies some nights but I don't want to scatter feed that cus it'll rott if he doesn't eat it...and it makes it so I know he's still doing good cus he sometimes will stay down in his borrow for like 3 days and I won't see him at all but when I see his veggie is gone then I'm happy
Is 10 inches of burrow substrates too much or whats the best for a Djungarian dwarf hamster? I have a bunch of different substrates, ive seen some separate the substrates and mix but which way will be easiest for spot cleaning? Also for my dwarf hamster, i have i think an 11 inch nigel wheel...i think its too big tho. You state that bigger the better but im not sure cus hes tiny and the nigel wheel i got is so big when he runs his little legs are kind of sprawled back behind him, almost dragging and is it normal for them to run so fast that when they do stop theyre butt sorta flops over on top of them? Its hilarious watching, and hope thats not like something not good hes doing. Im guessing hes just not totally used to running on the wheel yet. Weve had him for about a week and a half now. The first week he was home he was doing this weird frantic burrowing dig but doing it on top of his platform where there isnt any bedding or substrate...it made me worry i didnt have enough substrate so i did add more but now his cage, aquarium is like mostly all substrates...is that ok and was what he was doing normal or something i should worry about? Then my next question is oak wood safe? I have a bunch of oak sticks and i did do the oven for a half hour on 420 degrees...and was thinking ide sand them down so theyre more smooth but would it be better for them to have the natural texture on them for his littke feet to grip on to the sticks climbing? Ide made a bin cage first night we got him... that was 32 by 20 × 17 h and knew thay was too small but was just bette than the horriable tiny kritter cage my sons Dad had brought him home in first day. He had no clue what he was doing and didn't even tell me he was getting a hamster, not cool to do to anyone let alone a busy low income single working Mom...but i stayed up all night researching everything i could about dwarf hamsters...literally all night, and havent really stopped since the first night i got him. But thank God, i found your videos Victoria, you have been my favorite hamster info videos and now your my go to place for info i need about hamsters. I went through nearly every video youve posted about hamsters, almost, lol, youve got a lot. Not too big in the "reacts" videos those i tend to skip, sorry no offense but im just looking for your info on the details of how to provide best habitat and care for hamsters snd maybe when i get that down ill be more into the other fun stuff you post. Youll be happy to know that today we just got a 40 breeder size aquarium that i totally cant even move by myself its so big..and got the new huge nigel wheel, a huge sand bath, an awsome new sand for it and aspen wood substrate, and coconut fibers. But im still trying to figure out some good DIY hideouts and bridges and chew toys i can make hopefully with the oak i have already and put into his habitat thatll be safe for him. I just have two giant oak trees in my yard and i have always some reason collected saved and dried out all the sticks and branches that have fallen off from it during last 5 years of storm's and wind so i have huge piles of all these wood sticks that look like alot of the wood other people buy for theyre hamster cage but i just dont know if oak is safe...like i said i put a bunch of the sticks in oven and did that, but would it be ok for me to start cutting them down and making hidouts and bridges out of them for my dwarf hamster?
my hamsters cage is a bin cage that is 550 squareinches of floor space and it is so hard to fit everything into it i tried adding more bedding and then i put the wheel in and would not fit with the lid closed
Also I'm a little bit worried cuz my hamster fell her water dish and I don't know if I should be worried or if I can fix it do you have any advice for me? 🙏
Hello Victoria you are my FAVORITE RU-vid channel I’m SO excited for your new merchandise I’m gonna buy it soon and will hopefully buy both I love your channel also can you please make a video on how you clean your shrimp/fish tank please thank you!
I love these videos so much♥. I have learned a lot, even though my parents don't fully understand as much as I do, my hamster is in a much better place the she would be without me watching these amazing videos☺.
I love you so much victorya!! every one of your videos is inspiring, i learn something new from each one! also, my female syrian hamster, Pumkin, lately has not been coming out to play. I know she is alive and safe in her burrow, but this is concerning behavior I have not seen from her before. I would love to have some professional advice from somenone about that! If you could reply to this with useful advice, i would greatly appreciate it! thanks!
New hamster??? :D XD I love designing and setting up hamster enclosures, I wish I could do it regularly as a hobby, but I think 2 hamsters are enough for me and they wouldn't appreciate me renovating their home every week. lol
Okay so I went and I got the fish tank it's a 30 gal and she has been climbing on everything no matter how little I get it she's a Houdini and she is chewing through the screen on top. I literally just bought her three new cages in the month I've had her oh my God the money I've gone through I just went out today and bought another one on marketplace hoping that this will work and she won't get out the upside is when she got out she came right to Mommy's room Android climbing up on my bed it was so funny. Thank God she did cuz I would have never found her. You definitely got a perfect cage it's high enough it's perfect
