If someone gave you a report that said blood was not detected on an item. However a sample was taken from said item and labeled at said item-1 The swab sample had the person in questions DNA. So what was the DNA that was found if no blood was detected on the item itself? The case is a male suicide victim gunshot to the head.

what if you are not collecting a blood, is it okay to just use one gloves?

1. Can we collect allele/gene from used utensil or clothes? 2. Can allele/gene be collected from a blade which has been washed once as in there was no blood visible by naked eyes?

When putting the gloves on he did not follow an aseptic approach and actually possibly contaminated the first glove he put on with his DNA when he went to put the second glove on.....

why is the evidence placed in bindle before placing in a envelope?
@nationalforensicacademy5682
@nationalforensicacademy5682 6 лет назад
katy crazy some people choose to place the swabs into the small swab box to further protect the evidence with an additional layer between the blood swabs and the envelope that it is place into for final packaging. All biological evidence needs to be allowed to “breathe” so that the DNA does not get mold and ruin the DNA sample. Some choose to simply place the swabs back into the sterile swab wrapper and then into an envelope. If you do this make sure you remove enough of the swab wrapper so as to not prevent the blood evidence from properly drying on the swab. Never use plastic to preserve a biological sample. Hope this answers your question. Thank you.

@@nationalforensicacademy5682 No --- this is just wrong. UK ISO SOPs show that you should not do this!

If someone donates their hair to locks of love and the recipient of the hair commits a crime and leaves hair at the crime scene will that persons dna at the crime scean incriminate said person that donated the hair?
@nationalforensicacademy5682
@nationalforensicacademy5682 6 лет назад
ashley leigh essentially everyone in your maternal line, male and female would be suspect. The hair would contain mitochondrial DNA which is from your mother only. So if you have siblings they would have the same mitochondrial DNA. On a side note, the good you do by donating hair would far outweigh the risk of a recipient of that hair committing a crime.

George, one year may be too much for the latent fingerprint to be lifted from the hammer reason being first and foremost metal be it with rain and or water doesn't match and that's why we normally see rust on those metals which are exposed to water. So some weather conditions are so hazardous to those examination

This is incorrect, especially for UK proceedure, you should never swab from the centre of a stain, and also use wet and dry swabbing with sterile water!! Please, UK students, do NOT follow this!
