There is no need to blow up your amplifier or melt the tubes.
Quickest way to tune is to preset the controls and then look for RF output
either on the multimeter on the amplifier or on a wattmeter attached after the amplifier.
Once the plate is dipped for plate current and you have the most output - increase the LOAD
control to get the GRID current to lower to proper values.
Then check the absolute plate current - lower the drive from the exciter to decrease the plate current
to acceptable levels. Better not to push the amp for an extra 100 watts beyond the rating on the amp - run the amp easy.
