Bell's security rating system makes it easy to select the right lock for your needs. Each of our locks are evaluated and tested by an independent, third party lab to establish a security rating from 1 and 5. While a Security Level 1 lock offers basic security and is appropriate for low risk areas, Security Level 4 and 5 locks offer the most protection and are the most difficult to defeat. Bell's even offers an Anti-Theft Guarantee on these high security level locks. If your bike is stolen due to the defeat of a Bell security Level 4 or 5 lock by force, we will help cover the cost of replacing your bike.
It's important to know that any bicycle lock can be broken with the right amount of time, tools and determination. However, a sturdy lock and savvy locking strategy will significantly reduce the risk of your bike being singled out by thieves.
To lock your bicycle properly with a cable lock, wrap the cable around your bicycle frame, front or rear tire, and a fixed object. If you're using a U-Lock place the shackle around a fixed object and then through both the bicycle frame and wheel.
Make sure to always lock your bike to a stationary object like a bicycle rack, sign post, tree, or fence in a visible, well-lit location. For even better security, pair a cable lock with a U-lock.
