I know I have been always told to cross the chains but in reality I think there is a slim chance of the hitch landing in the “cradle” of the chain when you are traveling at any kind of speed. Also, was watching another channel about this issue and they were saying when the chains are crossed that you can get uneven drag when the hitch disconnects and cause the trailer to zig zag all over the place. Wish you had discussed and shown the way to attach a trailer breakaway line too. It can be a little tricky to get the chain length correct and the breakaway line length to work too.

Never twist safety chains. Twisting will decrease the working load by 70 percent.

How about twisting the chains around each other to shorten length instead of twisting each chain individually?

Hi! I absolutely would not recommend twisting the chains in any way. I have heard of some law enforcement in some states issuing tickets for twisted chains. Twisting your chains is never a good idea. Good question! Thanks for watching!
