See: www.yowangdu.com/tibetan-buddh... for the full post. Lobsang Wangdu of YoWangdu Tibetan Culture shows you the three basic styles of prostrations common in Tibetan Buddhism.
This video was easy to find and had the exact information I was looking for. Thank you so much, sir, and may your days be filled with peace and harmony.
Thank you so much for this beautiful offering. I am about to meet my first lama so wanted to learn about prostrations from a Tibetan. I saw another video by a Buddhist nun, where she touched crown, forehead, throat, heart. Which is the correct way when you pay your respects to a teacher? Is crown, mouth, heart enough for the full prostration as you show in your video? Once again - many thanks! :) You have a lovely energy. May you be happy.
Excellent video thank you, accidentally disliked which I didn’t mean to, it said it shared that feedback with the creator but I would like you to know it was a mistake and I like this video, it was very helpful thank you
Hi! I appreciate you making this video. I wanna ask you one thing. How many times you have to do this for one set. I know about 108bows. How about this in tibetan buddhism?
I think he says in the beginning part of the video that the thumbs should be tucked is if to suggest they aren't empty. Something to remember. Hope my comment helps : ]
In my name or account section I tried to put om mani peme hung, but it wouldn't let me change it and my phone kept auto- changing the words... forgive me- I know it's wrong, but I can't change it for 90 days now. God bless.
oh my goodness??? I have been folding my hands in front of my forehead, mouth, and heart for months in my prayers, but i had no idea this was a traditional practice? It's just something i did because it felt right!
+lexuscarrington Hi, you can see a few mantras that are commonly used at the bottom of the post on prostrations that you can link to in the description of the video above.
+YoWangdu Tibetan Culture Ok thank you, i prostrate in my religion but i love this also to release the ego and clear negative karma. i did feel happy when i did it. thank you for this beautiful gift of information. it truly appreciated.
This is interesting. His Holiness himself teaches that when you prostrate you should put your thumbs in. When we see him in videos he is usually greeting the crowd or praying at his throne. Let us know if you see an image of him prostrating with the thumbs out.
Lobsang Wangdu Oh there are many pictures: www.psychalive.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Dalai_Lama_2.jpg higherperspective.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Dalai_Lama.jpg This is just a few among many. Honest I have never seen one picture where he put thumbs inside. But I have seen other videos here on RU-vid that also show thumbs inside like you show...so thats why Im confused how to do. Thanks for videos anyway:)
Hi again. We mean that if you find a picture of HHDL with his thumbs out "while prostrating" let us know. These are photos of him greeting crowds or praying. Perhaps he does differently when he himself prostrates at the beginning and end of teachings.
swedendive Hi Swedendive, there's a useful teaching by His Holiness on this from a few days ago on dalailama.com: www.dalailama.com/news/post/1262-an-interview-and-a-teaching-for-the-all-japan-soto-young-priests-association
It’s amazing how different cultures apply their religions, as an Anglo Saxon heathen we don’t follow our religion like this, we don’t even kneel, we stand up and face our gods, we don’t ask for anything, we just acknowledge them.
I think you opened a RU-vid account just so you could write something nasty. Haven't heard about right speech? BTW, if you're concerned about "creepy" pictures, I wouldn't talk.
How many Gods or creators do exist according to you? If there's one God or creator, there should be one path. If you believe more than one God, then yes you can have more paths but you should answer millions of questions
The partial prostration is the right prostration but you just need to prostrate for the true God who created you not for statues you created. Do the right thing for the right purpose.

Yusuf, tell me something: do you get a big kick by finding fault with other people's religions. Your Muslim history is a bloody one converting people by the sword. You dare not deny or justify this. Your so-called "true god" is not compassionate or merciful if you have to kill people to make a point. So practice compassion and stop being such a jerk.
