I have been doing this for the last three months and I have stopped losing a ton of hair, every time I wash it. Thank you for all the helpful information Abby!
*Abbey, would you consider doing a full video solely on this product and process? I know that the use of coconut oil is such an impactful step, and there are some excellent questions here in this short's comment section. Thank you*
I’d like this video, too! I have this exact product and would love to see more of a deep dive into how to use it/its benefits/why it works. I’m also curious if the coconut oil shampoo & conditioner from the same brand and line would be beneficial.
Not sure if this helps but, she has a video called Weekly healthy wash day routine and she does talk about this product in the beginning of the video. And she also has another video called Drugstore hair Favorites #3 and she also talks about the hair oil as well. Hope this helps ❤
You really want to use Moroccan oil it is a fiber filling oil for mending damage. If your hair air dries frizzy you will need to apply conditioner to wet hair before you shampoo. Less friction while shampooing is important. Coconut oil can damage hair if it’s used too often. It adds a protein and overly adding protein to your hair can create the hair to be full, greasy and look worse:
@smiledance4933 check out people that have protein sensitivity to their hair. Some girls don't benefit from it. Every so often I get hopeful and try but my hair gets super brittle. I don't know the science behind it. But try and see for yourself 👍
@@smiledance4933 Personally I find that if you leave coconut oil in your hair when you apply moisturiser on top it doesn’t sink in as the oil has created a barrier. So your hair has slip but feels dry. However if you want to leave coconut oil in your hair, moisturise your hair first then apply the coconut oil on top (only a bit as it will thin and spread with the heat off your head, which may start running down your neck as the day goes on). I would focus the coconut oil on the ends of the hair and apply sparingly near the top/ roots of the hair. Alternatively you can apply other oils that are more moisturising like hemp oil, avocado, olive oil etc Hope that helps 😊
My hair was super crusty I started watching you and I put just straight coconut oil into my hair , AMAZING RESULTS thank you. The raw coconut oil works for me because I bleached the absolute heck out of my hair and this saved it
Did you use the exact one in this video? I bleach my hair a lot, and it's super damaged. I've used so many things to try to correct it, but nothing has helped besides the raw sugar hair mask from Walmart.
Girl, thank you for recommending this oil. I’ve used the argan oil in the same line and didn’t like it but this coconut miracle oil is miracle indeed. My dry brittle ends are nourished the second I put them in. I use this oil towards the end to give my hair TLC after using the Pureology leave in conditioner and heat protectant before blow drying. My hair looks and feel so much better. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars buying the expensive morroconoil argan treatment oil and that really didn’t do nothing for my fine curly hair. Loving this. Keep these videos coming. I’ve bought 3 more bottles at Target and also got a 5 dollars gift card when you buy 4 items in the same line. Win win 😉
I use grape seed oil before I wash my hair. No issues or breakage it makes my hair feel so soft. I leave it on for an hr to 24 hrs depending on how busy I am.
I find that when I don’t keep it on overnight, it just doesn’t wash out, because it still coating the hair. When I keep it on overnight, my hair has absorbed more of it, and the remainder washes out without a problem.
Extra virgin olive oil is also an amazing choice as well, it' has a small molecular size and is actually easier to come by ( cause it's in your kitchen cabinet 😊 )
I started doing this because of you and I think it makes a big difference I love how my hair looks and feels it just that much shinier also makes me feel a lot better knowing that I’m protecting my hair that much more!☺️
I soak dried rosemary in olive oil…. I have hair growing in spots that hasn’t grown for ten years 👍 I just leave the jar sitting on a window sill with lots of sun.
@@Xiserna before, with a good 20 minute scalp massage. Shampoo twice and condition the ponytail, then a leave in conditioner sprayed on and dried in a tshirt 👍
The best thing you can do to protect your hair from chemical treated water like pool water is to get it wet before hand so that the water your hair does absorb does not have chemicals in it. I would be curious if putting oil on your hair after helps but if you go into the pool water, the dry hair, especially damaged hair is porous and your hair acrually absorbs water that contains those chemicals so you want to fill in the porous areas of the sponge with non-chemical water before hand but I bet like if you get your hair wet and then put the oil on over it that might be more protection. There’s a bunch of like dermatology journals that have articles where you can read more about this.
Thanks for the tip! I’ve been using this for awhile, but never right before I wash my hair. I always use it after I wash my hair before blow drying. I’m gonna try this!
This works! I bought this product and used it before my last hair appointment. My hairdresser couldn't get over how soft my hair was! I used it as a pre-shmpoo treatment, as well as added couple drops afterwards before blow-drying. Its amazing!
Ok rewatching, she literally says she uses this pre-wash to overnight. My bad. Glad to hear of your experience though and I’m looking forward to trying it.
@@o.om.m5632 for me, not at all! I always shampoo twice anyway so not sure if that helps or not. It's just like any other hair styling product- made to come out when you shampoo.
I bought this the other day, used last night for the first time. Holy hell my waves looked so much nicer this morning. Way less frizz, didn’t feel dry on the ends. I’m sure if my hair was completely dry before going to bed it would have looked even better. Good first impression! I hope it keeps getting better over time!
I bought this because of your recommendation and it is absolutely amazing, I have been trying so many different expensive products after bleach ruined my hair and overnight I could tell the difference when I used this product. I finally have some faith that my hair will start to grow because the frizz becomes less and less each time I use it, it’s got it’s shine back, and it’s more even in the way it absorbs hydration and products (before using it I would wash my hair and the hairs closest to the scalp and ends would dry almost instantly and be frizzy and or dry, and then the middle section of my hair would take forever to dry like it is the only healthy part of my hair).
I did as well. Ulta had it for 40% off I almost bought 2. I will be trying this trick.. because my breakage is outta control and I rarely put heat in my hair.
This is so true. I'm from South India and we use coconut oil for anything and everything. Most of us apply coconut oil daily before we wash our hair. Yeah, we wash our hair every single day. But just with plain water. And it is because we sweat a lot.
She recomends a product that first ingredient is "Cyclopentasiloxane" which is a plastic that cover the hair shaft preventing nutrients to penetrate, isn't easier for her to just use real coconut oil.
I used to hate coconut oil, because it never made my hair any better. After watching ur videos, I decided to give it another try and to only put a little amount on the ends of my hair. Surprisingly, my hair looks and feels much healthier. Thank you ❤ I will make sure to try all ur other hair tips and advices. Love from Morocco ❤
Thank you so much!! This answered so many questions I had, you're amazing❤❤ Also many of the products/brands you mention aren't avaliable in my country, but out of all of them I found the L'Oreal Elvive bonding serie and used it today. The results are insane! The softness!! I started to implement your tips to my routine and my hair has never looked better. I also found K18 and Elizavecca Cer-100 online, ordered it and can't wait to start using it too. Your advice and understanding of hair science makes it so easy for me and others to be excited about our hair rather than worry if the product, brand or chemicals are waist of time and money. Thank you so much! ❤❤
I do this! Cause where I am in the Uk we have hard water so I put the OGX miracle coconut oil not 100% coconut oil cause I’m allergic! So I put the ogx oil on my hair NOT scalp and leave it for 30 minutes then wash off and do the rest of my Hair routine it’s a great hack!🥰💕
literally just got the one you recommended the other day! i had to search up this video to see exactly how i should apply it since im about to shower & wash my hair! ❤
All these hair care tips are overwhelming. It’s like a whiplash every week between these trends. First only use oil only on scalp and not too long, now just put oil in the whole hair. Ever single thing is made so complicated and it truly feels like a consumer trap
This is not a new thing. It's been around for a long time. Coconut Oil and other oils/butter with *Lauric acid* are the only known oils to penetrate the hair. What it does is slow the rate with which water absorbs into the hair during washing thereby chipping away the keratin that mostly makes up our hair and making it vulnerable. *It's tried, tested and true* As regards the scalp, you can still use coconut oil but it will be better to add an essential oil e.g rosemary and peppermint to stimulate blood circulation on the scalp and penetration which helps most especially, for people with dry scalp and Afro hair that is often in need of emollient to help remove dryness from their hair.
I sweeear i’ve been seeing amaziing results and it’s been just a few washes. Only one small change.. What a difference the pre-shampoo cocunut oil makes. Thank you Abbey!
I agree, use organic coconut oil and apply it to my short thick hair all the time and then sleep with it. I love to you that well so just to quickly style my hair.
I started applying conditioner BEFORE I wash my hair and the difference is insane. I do this every other wash. In summer I wash my hair every other day but in winter I absolutely do the oil and mix it with my conditioner apply to wet hair and proceed.
This is great! It is great to use oils before washing your hair, it can help replenish hydration and make your hair look less dull and dry. Although, you have to find out your hair type first! Some hair types and porositys can get even more damaged and dull from coconut oil. There are a bunch of more oils for them aswell. First, find your hair porosity/type. Then find an oil that’s right for you!
@@TillyFloss Take some strands of hair from your brush or comb (be sure to use clean hair as products can alter the results) and drop them into a glass of water. Let them sit for a few minutes, and if the strands float after the time is up, you likely have low porosity hair. If it sinks, the hair is likely to be high porosity. You can also look up videos on how to and what products work best. Hope this helps!
Ummm yeah don’t use real coconut oil not because of how it might make your hair feel dry but because you’ll ruin your drains. Once it hardens it can clog your pipes.
Regular coconut oil melts at 76 degrees also after being mixed with shampoo it does not clog anything. Fractionated coconut oil stays liquid, so if you're really worried about clogging use that instead.
I just tried because i saw your video- and this honestly it works really well ! I got the wonder water too . I get a bit nervous using oils becoming of build up so I used the wonder water after shampoo. My hair feels so soft.
Coconut oil is great, but for low or medium porosity hair. Coconut oil isn't for every hair type. It will not work on high porosity hair (usually damaged hair after styling or curly hair). May cause a feeling of dryness. Oils such as grape seed oil, argan oil or sweet almond oil are suitable for high porosity hair.
It’s important to point out that she hasn’t got really thick hair but a lot of fine hair. Thick hair looks completely different, and lifted and voluminous naturally without any styling or products. Coconut oil however is good for all hair types.
You are conflating hair texture and hair density - which, are not the same. I happened to learn the difference, on my first day of cosmetology school, with my teacher using my own head of hair as an example. To put it in layman’s terms: Abbey’s hair TEXTURE is fine. Her hair DENSITY is thick. What I believe you are describing, is medium to course textured hair - which, both have a natural thick density.
I agree with the comment above, I also have low porosity and I use the OGX argan of Moroccan oil and it works well for me because I use this oil to not have frizzy hair after shower and it makes your hair so shiny.
I'm ready to sue them m************ who created this s*** because it damaged my hair for 6 months my it caused me to have to reconstruct my hair and it f***** up my friends human hair wig lace front f*** this product and the color product did damage to my hair as well if I find me a lawyer they're going to get sued you can 👍🏾
I would like to know this too. I also have super sensitive skin. (sorry to hear you have rosacea, I also used to have it. mine did heal after a cpl of years though, so there's hope! I found putting aloe Vera on it to be very helpful) I wonder if we can mix coconut oil with something to water it down? like maybe a leave in conditioner?
@@katyb2793 was it healing your gut health that helped your rosacea? ty rosacea is definetly my biggest challenge lately ocular rosacea is a nightmare. thanks for the tips!
No, I have IBS and other health conditions, and I didn't do anything different food wise. I used a prescription cream for a while, then discovered a red reducing cream by avene that worked just as well, so I used that for a couple of years. Then I started layering aloe Vera over the top, then when it was not so bad I used aloe Vera alone. I kept using it for a year or so after the rosacea was gone as it seemed to pop up again if I stopped too soon. Apparently sun protection is really important. I didn't know that so didn't wear sunscreen (this was before RU-vid hahaha and Google wasn't what it is today). Obviously none of this is medical advice, it's just what worked for me. Also don't use steroid creams. My GP told me they make it worse. Good luck!!
you should use oils with coconut or fractionated coconut oil because food grades molecules are too big to penetrate the hair follicle. to each their own.
My scalp used to be so sensitive, especially after washing it, it would hurt for days.. I started oilying my scalp before shampoo and ive never had a problem again.
I love your channel for hair recs! I have an inflammatory scalp condition that is like a blend of seb derm/psoriasis, and piyrosporum folliculitis. It means sebum is overproduced, I have an autoimmune reaction TO the sebum, and fungus grows in the presence of oiling hair products. The shampoos I have to use to keep my scalp fungus-free are very drying and harsh on the hair strands themselves, which look like they've been bleach-damaged. Coconut oil is my fungus' FAVORITE food but is in almost all oils and leave-conditioners. Are there any products that can protect and condition the hair without oil? I haven't found any so far...
