I owe you a big thank you. I live in Istanbul, Turkey. I had bought all shares of my grandfather’s fields in Bursa and I decided to plant fruit trees a year ago. But I needed to learn pruning and grafting. I spent my last winter watching videos and learning how to take care of my little babies. I’ve learnt so much from you, being a city guy, I think I did a great job. My trees are successfully pruned, morever, some people asked me to prune theirs since my trees look very pretty. I grafted peaces, plums, walnuts and cherries three weeks ago and I had to come back to Istanbul right after that. My dad just called me and said ALL MY GRAFTINGS ARE SUCCESSFUL!!! You are winter pruning. Most of my orchard (pears, peaches, apples, plums) I prune in the late summer early fall. Would you recommend this for Cherries? This is the best cherry pruning video I've seen.

Thank you great instructions.I have a 1st year Starkrimson cherry tree that was just a bare rod with buds after loosing all its leaves in winter till spring came along. I did not prune at all . Now new growth has started , new branches are growing slowly coming out from the buds working its way up the tree. The very first branch is growing out from the grafted section at the bottom. I think I probably should have pruned off the top 20cm while the tree was still dormant and a bare rod in Winter but I have a lack of knowledge and inexperience . The very first branch growing from the grafted section is about 30cm long with about another 3 branches close in size and length also growing and many buds sprouting up to about 15cm from the top. Can you please help me with some pruning advice ? Cheers Mick.

Hello.I also try to form this system, but it doesn't work very well...The 3rd year of the garden...in the 1st year, I cut off 60 cm, and in the summer I shortened the shoots by 20 cm..but apparently the variety is not the same...shoots grow horizontally, you have to tie them up...Rootstock VSL-2, Crimean selection, maybe slightly tall

I ordered some sour cherry trees this year that are taller than this, I couldn't find any younger ones. Pruning them is not so intuitive. i did the first year cut on some trees that were 3 years old but had never been pruned before, now they are just sticks in the ground without branches. I did it this autumn... now I'm wondering how that will affect the growth for next year?

Добрый день! Классное видео! Я всё делаю также, но что-то получается не так. После того как я сформировал 16 лидеров, продолжаю их обрезать и вести из них ещё по 2 лидера. На следующий год чисто теоритически 16 лидеров должны обрасти плодовыми почками, но этого не происходит массово, только в не большом количестве. Те лидеры, которые я выпускал из 16 укорачиваю, оставляю 16 и 16 удаляю. Дереву получается пять лет. Пришла весна и на 16 лидерах, на которых имеются плодовые образования, после цветения , вместо плодов начинают расти боковые ветви до самого верха всех лидеров. У меня вопрос: может не все сорта черешен можно растить по системе KGB? Почему в моём случае растут боковые ветви? Может мне перейти на испанский куст? Причём я пробывал несколько сортов, но урожая так получить и не могу.

Есть версия что уже сформированные лидеры укорачивать не нужно. Что скажете?
