I have a sensitive scalp and personally cannot wear a high bun for too long. Claw clip hair styles, low to mid ponytails, and braids have been my go to. For extra security in high intensity kickboxing session, I will do a mid ponytail with a scunchie and add a big claw clip to pin it up so the weight of my long hair is evenly distributed. Takes a few tries but works like a charm! Braids cause the least amount of stress and wear those when I'm not wearing my hair natural. It's a great protective style

@ceystal Год назад
@@mtcelticharper 90s claw clip hairstyles are totally in if you wanna bring it back! As for braids I do any braid imagine. Double dutch braids for protective styles, a single french/dutch braid as shown in this video, fishtail braid, for a classy look I love a good waterfall braid. French and dutch fishtail are also some of my favorites. Four and five strands braids are fun too. Rope braids are the most in right now I would say and those are some of the fastest to do. Half up lace braids are super trendy. My absolute go to is a simple dutch braid, double dutch braid, or a chic pancaked side braid. But I love mixing it up plus it's fun playing with heatless waves from the braids. If youre interested, Courtney also made a video on her trying dutch braids a few months ago and doing a braid out which is my go to hairstyle for lazy wash days. These waves give the BEST canvas for doing more romantic hairstyles

This summer, I started using a swim cap made for long or curly hair. I put my hair in a loose pineapple or twisted bun (if I'm not trying to preserve my curls that day) with the invisibobble and gently put on the very stretchy cap. It takes some practice. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my hair stayed mostly dry, my curls stayed curly and I could enjoy swimming under water for literally the first time in years. I had pretty much quit swimming because I hated having long, wet hair that took forever to dry. It's such fun again. I'll never quit riding for my hair, but helmet hair is another story.

@@erinames7783 whenever I try to do a bun, it doesn't look cute, it looks like a rat's nest. All bun tutorials I see on RU-vid are for sleek, flat ironed hair. How can I make a bun with wavy hair (and all the bumps it has) that looks professional without damage?
@erinames7783

@@mtcelticharper I have wavy hair too. I usually brush it back gently with the wet smoother brush but instead of putting the hair tie around it I twist it around and around and it coils up. once it starts to coil up I wrap the hair around to form the bun. once its all wrapped up it should be fairly smooth like a "ballerina" bun then I smooth down the fly away hairs and spray with some hair spray. When it works properly it looks very clean and sleek. For hair stick buns Organicllyanna on youtube has some excellent tutorials! They look cute and stylish.

Hi! You have to take it out the way you put it in. You can't pull it straight out like you can with a scrunchie. You have to grab a loop, stretch it sideways, pull the hair through, untwist, until you have just the big whole loop left then you stretch that out in both hands and gently sort of shake it to release the hair from the coils and pull it gently down and out. Hope that helps!

Tip for the updos you showed like#2@10m mark (loose bun wrap for longer hair), and for anyone else rewinding and pausing: the very first part starting with your second hand through the hair tie is unnecessary. If you notice when she pulls it around it just goes around like the first loop of any normal ponytail. The only difference is after that-- while holding the tie with your second hand, you *then* stick your hand in it and flip the hair forward to wrap the hair around. Then proceed as she instructs with the half loop and done.

Is it just on the very ends of your hair? Mine do that too, if i accidentally get too much gel on the ends. Usually i will take a super wide toothed comb and comb out just those very ends, not so much "detangling" as just getting rid of the too-intense cast. Maybe this helps 🤞😀

Us girls that have curly hair cannot brush our hair dry especially with boar bristles oil or no oil or our hair will be frizzy. It works for you because you strictly have wavy hair.

Do you ever put your hair up to go out in public or as a nice updo? What do you do for that?
@SwavyCurlyCourtney

I mean, it depends on how you define go out in public. If we’re talking about going to the grocery store, you can 100% guarantee my hair will be up in a messy bun. Lol! Thank you West Texas wind for making it nearly impossible for me to leave my house without my hair being blown around like crazy. But for nicer events, I do everything in my power to wear my hair down. I find I look more put together/elegant with it down rather than up. That’s my personal preference though.

😱 I KNOW SOME1 WHO 6 DAYS OUT OF THE WEEK BECAUSE OF WORK (works in the kitchen) AND AT HOME WEARS A TIGHT TIGHT BUN OBOVE HER HEAD, SHES BEEB DOING THIS FOR OVER 12 YRS, and in the past 6 months her forehead hair line is moving back fast, it looks wierd, ifd thought it was some other like blood illnes like anemia, BUT NOO THIS FITS PERFECT TO HER SITUATION. IMA TELL HER, I HOPE SHE DOESN'T GET OFFENDED AND I HOPE WE CAN FIND HER A TREATMENT ON TIME... and i wonder if she can stop doing those tight buns

This may be a silly question but are bobby pins very damaging to the hair? To get it out of my face without the pulling feeling of a ponytail I like to just loosely twist and pin up my hair sometimes. Thank in advance!

My new hairdresser recently showed me my breakage from mechanical stress. I was horrified. I had worn the same hairstyle for 4 years 😬 I don’t anymore…

It is a good idea not to do the same! But it is tempting, I get that!

It was actually the start for me wearing my hair naturally curly again. Before, I just brushed it out und put it in a pretty bun. Only my tiny curl in the nape of my neck and the flyaways betrayed my wavy hair 😁

As a new to curly girl girl that ALWAYS pulled my hair up and had bangs (insert 50 plus years of “get that hair out of your face!”) I am having a great difficulty with the face area flyaway/curls/funk. Please help so I can return to a braid or bun like you show without the look of Jack Nickolson face framing. Important to note, that I have grown out my bangs as I learn to love my curls.
