Hi Dawn, this was a great video/tutorial on how to do needle punch. I started needle punching in the seventies, and that's what we called it then. Now it's punch needle. You did a fabulous job showing how to load the needle, correct tension and fabric, and so many good tips. It is such a fun activity with great results. I have a little cordoroy jumper that I made for my daughter when she was three years old and I needle punched a cowgirl's hat on the front. She is now 47 years old ! I would like to send you a picture of it, but I'm not sure where to send it. If you would like to see it and show it to your students, I would be happy to share it. I love your videos. I am a new subscriber and have watched some of the videos. Have a great day. Pam Miller in Alabama
Thanks for the video. I am having problems with my fabric tearing when I punch. (Similar to the customer who discussed the fabric with you). I have experience with Igolochkoy punch needles using Weeks or DMC. I bought Lori Holt’s brand Weavers Cloth and her chunky thread. I purchased the Ultra Punch ( so it is brand new) and I’m using the largest size nib. I am trying out her new patterns and have never done punch needle with yarn . What advice can you give when punching. I think I need a steep angle to keep from ripping the fabric….but in the past when punching with floss I kept needle more straight up and down. Any advice is appreciated…I really want to complete this Lori Holt project with the chunky yarn. Thanks for your great videos!
You should be fine with the Lori Holt fabric. Straight up and down should be good. Consider practicing on a piece of fabric too. Or the first one could be practice. It just takes some time punching to figure out what works best for you.
