Yup, restring the leg strings to be shorter. Measure the length of the strings when stringing with your leg bar clipped on, so when you need to walk with the leg bar clipped on (like if you're working 2 puppets at once) the puppet will respond to your leg bar movements.

@@puppetsbyarlee all right thank you for the tip also if you don't mind me asking what is the best kind of string to use or which one do you prefer and where do you buy it because I've looked everywhere and I've tried yarn but it's not that great and I've heard not to use fishing line. we don't have too many arts and crafts stores around here and I'm not sure of the names of different types of string or else I could ask the stores ahead of time if they have it... maybe nylon something? any advice would be great thank you for your time

The usual go to string for professionals is braided deep sea fishing line in black (You can use clear fishing line, but a lot of puppeteers don't like it because it reflects light.) You can choose any flexible strong string that holds a knot. I've heard of puppeteers using beading thread and heavy duty sewing thread. However, my personal preference is the deep sea fishing line, any brand. I like Hercules fishing line 30lb. If you have a super heavy puppet, you may want to use 50lb.
