I use hair tonic daily as it’s much easier to work with and it doesn’t rip lumps of hair out like other hair products. I use it for reenactment also, I do however remember some veteran accounts and one veteran used gun oil from his oil bottle to slick his hair back when out in the field as getting supplies later on wasn’t as easy. And I remember another veteran saying they’d used a very very small drop of oil for vehicles as a way of slicking his hair. A bit of topic but also related to oil was when the Germans were issued paint out in the field it would come as a solid and had to be watered down and with some vehicle crews and panzer crews what they’d do is they’d take used engine oil and or some petrol and they’d use that to water down the paint to a consistency that they could then spray the vehicles. And some panzer crews would back their tank up to a tree on a sunny day and use the shadows of the branches as a guideline for painting camouflage.
Amazing video! Just found your channel and immediately subscribed! Although i still dont have money to buy all those items (they're very expensive to Brazilian standarts) it gives me hope that someday i will have my own reenacting equipment and i'll know exactly how to get everything right! Greetings from Brazil!
