@Moh Zahir USMC مسيحي 7777 Remind me what was written on the German belt buckle since Prussian era, which Hitler didn't even remove when he redesigned it? "Gott mit uns" - Not a very "teutonic pagan" thing to have on every single soldier... Do your research bud
@Moh Zahir USMC مسيحي 7777 you clearly don't. And you just contradicted yourself. Paganism is polytheism, and "Gott" means "God". Which you accept. And it's an undeniable fact that it says Gott mit uns. Which means God. Not Gods... Have you any proof that the Nazis were pagan, like, at all
This content is absolutely fantastic. It gives such great viewpoint and understanding for new reenactors who are just beginning the hobbie. Thank you, and greetings from America!
The Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse is this what you do? Just go around to videos about teaching all sides of history and reply to every comment calling people Nazis? You are the problem.
I joined a fallschirmjäger re-enactment group and despite me just joining I did a ton of research on the equipment and the group was very impressed with my kit because I had pretty much everything including all the personal items. I'm loving the hobby and I got another event next week
Excellent. I'm part of Großdeutschland 1 in the UK, only recently joined after a stint in the LSSAH and we take accuracy very seriously. This is a very good video, maybe you can do a supplementary one on common personal effects carried by German soldiers ie pipes, matches, razors, toothpaste, combs, butter dishes and so on, because that's also really useful to know. Just a thought.
Although I’m in western australia and we don’t have reenactment groups I want to start a German reenactment group and use our gel ball guns ( airsoft guns but they shoot orbez like things) on my farm property we have hundreds of acres full of forest so I think it would be fun.
I’ve been getting started in German reenacting but I do American rn and building a German impression is a hobby, I just got a pair of German jackboots from ww2 for 30$
I’m glad someone is discussing the swapping the repro buttons for originals. I took this approach to ALL my reproduction uniform pieces..I especially used original glass buttons where I could... glass buttons are truly sexy 😄
@@cctproductions6976 I never broke a glass button while reenacting for over 20 years. As long as you’re not diving on concrete or cobblestone, and even then, those glass buttons are pretty resilient. Most reproduction’s uniform’s secondary closure buttons looks like something you can buy at Walmart anyways, I’ll risk breaking a glass or Bakelite button over that any day.
Weapons would probably be the most difficult part in Finland. Even deactivated guns have to be registered, and whoever possesses them has to have a license for that individual weapon. One has to be a member of a shooting club or similar for 2 years to get a license. Good luck trying to get an MP40 or similar, since the view of the law is "once full auto, always full auto", even if the gun has been welded to the point of exploding if it was ever fired for real.
Good to see someone else who replaces reproduction buttons!! I kind of have a button obsession and when I get a reproduction uniform I’ll completely strip it and add all original buttons with original button weight thread. I’ll usually add glass buttons to the cuff closures , dressing pocket etc..... because glass buttons are the coolest things!!!!
I want to join a German reenacting group, but I cannot afford one thing. My family is also trying to save up so we can have a house. But because of this video in the future I will know what to get. Thank you!
I wish your family the best. When you get into a better situation there are ways to do this a lot cheaper and not sacrifice on quality. Gavin Militaria has very good quality uniforms for the best prices. Join a reenactment gear Facebook group, people are selling stuff on those all the time. You can get pretty much all the equipment you need that way for a fraction of the price of new stuff. And even better it'll already be slightly aged for you.
Excellent video, I came in search for the name of the SA brownshirt and you said they're called "service shirts" so that's one of the main things I need thank you.
I believe what you're looking for is actually referred to as a "tunic." Service shirts are just what the soldier wears underneath the tunic (think of it like wearing a dress shirt underneath a suit coat). The Sturmabteilung enlisted man's tunic consisted of a yellowish brown tunic that ends at the waist and is meant to be tucked into the trousers. Officers tunics appear to be longer, and similar cut to a typical Wehrmacht and Waffen SS tunic. Note that variations in colour, pocket style, collar tab style, insignia, buttons, and other such details may have occured. The SA was an ever changing organization especially after the Nacht der Langen Messer and the removal of Ernst Röhm Hope this helps.
Question, are there any roles that exists for females in German reenactment group, because all I can think of is maybe in a volkssturm role around 1945.
Hello Eliza! :) There most certainly are! I don't know if you have a particular interest, but there is a long list of possibilities. There are nurses, Feuerwehr, and auxiliary military personnel, etc. Please check out my friends from German, these girls do a fantastic impression. facebook.com/Helferinnen/ Best regards from Norway :)
@@elizabethedelweiss Your welcome my dear, good luck! :) If you have any further questions just ask. But consider reaching out to the girls in the previously mentioned group, they can certainly better answer any questions you might have. :)
Oh i so wanted those! I wanted to join a reenacting group, spend days with them at battlefield. But there is no WW2 reenacting group here in Brazil, and it's harder to get those items in good quality or uncensored...
I have been a U.S. reenactor for 40 years. WW2 4th and 14th Armored units. Atthefront.com is a great vender. Most of there stuff is made in house at there place in Columbia K.Y. Rolland Curtis owns it and is very good at getting it right. He dose sell stuff from other makers but the A.T.F. things are spot on.
It would be an expensive hobby nonetheless I'm afraid... but comparing it to the fun you will have it's well worth it in my opinion. Obtain items of higher quality, sometimes its more expensive, but it will end up cheaper in the long run - of course, that also depends on what type of reenactment you do :)
Relatively new subscriber here. Love these videos! Really explains the philosophy behind Living History outside the usual perceptions of just "dressing up" or "looking the part" most may have about the hobby.
Hello ! I love your videos, I just want to get into a German HEER uniform and your advice is very informative! However, I did not understand where you find the top quality belt buckles?
Great video ! Btw. Have you ever heard of any reenacment group of the 8th SS Cavalry "Florian Geyer" ? I'm soldier of the 2nd Cavalry Guard voluntary Regiment of the Polish Armed Forces, and I'm curious about any ww2 german cavalry reeneactors...
Hey, quick question. Have you seen the website Epic Militaria? They're one of the many I've found so far, like the ones you recommended, and I was wondering if you'd recommend them. They have cheap but, from the looks of it, good quality equipment and uniforms, but I'm still skeptical. For example, they have a pair of jackboots for just about $145 US dollars, compared to the $200-$400 range you mentioned in the video. They look good, but I'm wondering. If anyone has any answers on this, let me know.
Hi I see nobody responded and having used epic for years now, I think I'm best to help, if you've not already solved the issue. The Epic boots are perhaps the only time I agree with epic critics, as they are pretty tacky, inconsistent and the hob nails fall out allllll the time. If your also in the UK a better choise i've lent to for German Uniforms is Militaria.net. I got my boots there, with white stitching as opposed to black, but a bit of polish solves it right out. Best of luck and hope this can be of some help
@@waristheraputic are epic militaria roughout boots for us reenacting good I got original us ww2 m1 chin straps from them and there good because the original surplus
I live in Germany and in Germany it's not allowed to wear any German military sine that makes me sad cause I want to get a obergefreiter soilder and I want to wear k98 or a mp40 but that is not allowed that's why I want to reenact and play airsoft with my uniform and mp40 and k98 airsoft gun and with your videos I found out what I should buy and what not and for that I want to thank you
I would like to start with this hobby myself, but i feel bad for using original ww2 material and probably break it after some years. Like buttons and belts....
There are many good reproductions out there! We mostly use reproduction uniforms and equipment, buy certain items are original... but that's just our group own standards.. :)
I already have a basic ss uniform minus the service shirt and braces, but does anyone have any recommendations on any vendors that offer accurate field gear and personal items for a good price?
Hello WW2 History and Reenacting, I think this is the 6th time I watch this specific video and I decided to ask you a question. I'm currently undertaking the path of reenactment/ing, portraying the 1st Panzer Division Leibstandarte A.H. and I'm struggling to find a faithful reproduction of a SS buckle. Despite being the one in your video a fake reproduction made to throw off (whose origin might might be known to me), I agree with you that it could be a really nice reproduction for display as far as reenactment is concerned. I was also wondering if you could share the source of that purchase or at least some additional information about it I would be extremely grateful to you. Whatever happens, keep up your work, I won't miss a video, as always!
Great video , have a question what is the more plain tunic you wore when showing off the container at 16:30 if you remember where you got it it would be appreciated 👍
I understand this was very long time ago, but I want to know, is the uniform you have shown around 6:25 the one you primarily use? And if so, is it a Norwegian SS volunteer uniform cosplay? Or a conscript one?
Elsenau Militaria is what you are looking for. The quality is very good but honestly not worth it in my opinion. Gavin comes very close for a fraction of the price.
If you had to I suggest a at the front k98k bayonet it is a repo but it is the most high quality one I have seen and pretty cheap around 40 also much love from America can you give me any groups that live in the state of North Carolina please put it below me thanks
I bought everything already but the only thing I am stuck is the ammo pouches because I have m24 ammo pouches but someone told me to uss kar98 ammo pouches but I want to portray late war!
I would start by looking around to see what reenactment groups are in your area.. For a new reenactor it is absolutely best to join an already existing reputable unit :)
@@ww2historyandreenacting I live in Maryland doing a 29th infantry division 116th infantry regiment impression and I haven't joined a group yet but there Ohio based and are welcome to people in Maryland so should I join them and Ohio is close to maryland
When I would go to Germany on business trips I remember that German army artifacts could not be sold displaying Nazi insignia. I assume this has changed ?
