What are the rails for?
@nathanblanchard8897
@nathanblanchard8897 Год назад
Not sure if this is true or not but I assume they’re for board slides. When you hop onto a rail or especially a rough surface like a curb, the wood of your deck would be dragging on that surface. You’ve see the drag marks and gashes in the bottom of a skateboard, right? That’s what it’s from. These provide a super slick super tough plastic surface (probably HDPE, milk jug material) for you to slide on, and I bet those jagged bits help you feel more “locked in” when riding rails since you have a groove to snap into. This also probably extends the life of your deck too, but probably not by much

@JunkBondTrader
@JunkBondTrader Год назад
I am not sure why the Philips became the main screw type in America. maybe you have an idea, being an apparent screw-master :p - The Canadian Robertson is superior in every way. More torque, self entering, and it stops bits easier when tight, where Philips pushes the bit out and causes the stuttering, also makes them easier to strip than Robertson. I wonder why, maybe a pride thing or philips became too integrated too change it... But Roberston is becoming more and more used in the US.

Only thing rattling is the bearings. It funny, I’ve noticed that a lot of pros don’t have a clue how to take care of bearings. They’ll use the same unlubricated set for years. Unlubricated bearings are faster, and louder, a lot of people like them loud. Lubricated bearings are smoother. If you lube them with very thin oil, they’ll act more like unlubricated bearings. Hill bombing on a hot day with unlubricated bearings can actually melt the damn bearings. I use sewing machine oil on mine. It’s nice and thin, meant for small moving parts. Then I’ll sit there and spin the wheels by hand until they’re broken in. I’ll do the speed test, where you spin all your wheels fast to see which one spins the longest. I do that over and over for like 30 minutes. It makes a huge difference.
