This is a quick and easy tutorial on how to repair an undermount sink clip failure. There's no need to pay a couple hundred dollars for a simple $20 fix. This repair is strictly for a granite counter top and undercount sink installation and repair. Disclaimer: I am not a contractor or licensed to do anything when it comes to home repairs. I'm just a man who doesn't like to spend money on things I can do myself. Please check with city/county/state codes on anything you're required to do prior to repairs.

Thanks for the info on those clips. Just another quick tip: you can also put masking tape around the sink...just below the upper lip.......and also around the inside of the granite edge. That way, when the silicone squeezes out, you can take a swipe around with a putty knife to clean off the excess......the remove the tape to get a nice, goop-free line, on the sink AND the granite.

Thank you for this video as I have this exact problem. Matter of fact, these same clips (the new ones used for the repair), shown in video, were used by the contractor to install the sink about 6 years ago. Two of them fell out recently so it looks like I may be fixing others down the road as there are about 6 total.

You've got to drop the sink, clean the flange, resilicone, and reinstall the sink. Topical silicone is nearly useless; it must go between the flange and stone bottom.

How do you drop the sink without removing the pipes? Do you need TWO contractors for this job? (One for removing the plumbing, and another for reinstalling the sink?)

Having the same problem. But the under-mount surface is wood. Does the epoxy still work/adhere to wood surfaces?

Morod Shah I would look at the instructions and guidance on the epoxy of your choice.

Did you have any trouble securing the clip with all that epoxy pouring through the holes on the clip? I'm facing a similar problem with a kitchen sink and this looks like the best solution, but wondered if the excess epoxy through the holes was going to keep me from adequately tightening the clip.

James Kaihatu You need the epoxy to come through the holes. that helps with securing the clip system. After he dried completely, per directions, I broke off a few of the pieces and tightened the wing nut down. No issues and the sink is holding tight. You could always take a putty knofe and smooth over some that oozes through the holes to a 1/4 level across the bracket.

Thanks. I tried JB Weld and it was just too runny. I will have to find some epoxy paste.

Craig McKee Thanks for the reply .I just installed today waiting for it to dry.Did you have problems with the epoxy covering the threads for the wing nut?
@newstwome

No. I was just careful to wipe off anything that could have impeded the next step.

Thanks, ran into the same issue although the underside of my granite does have 1/4 inch threads in it so not sure if I need to go the epoxy route or if the screws are enough. Absolute Mickey Mouse job by the contractor though, shameful.
