HOW TO QUICKLY BUILD RAPPORT WITH THE JOB INTERVIEWER
--------------------
Who doesn’t like a good warm up? Major league baseball pitchers toss a few balls every inning before the first batter steps to the plate.
Opera singers go through their routines with some deep breathing, humming, and singing. I hear trills are also popular.
You get the idea I’m sure.
Do you warm up before you start your job interview?
Do you think about those first words that’ll pop out of your mouth right after you say, “Hi my name is name and Andy LaCivita is my career coach therefore prepare to be dazzled!”
Ha!
You need to be mentally prepared and also ready to start off on the right foot.
The best way to begin is by building some rapport with the interviewer.
Don’t worry. I won’t keep you in suspense.
Check out How to Quickly Build Rapport with the Job Interviewer and the rest of the interview will seem like a breeze.

That would be super cool! I love polo as well. I have an old vintage shirt that says POLO on it and I used to collect the hats, but slowly lost them over time. Hey, quick question Andy, so I was able to get a second interview after getting rejected because I emailed the CEO and he gave the nod to give me a second round. I didn't have prior experience in Digital Ad Sales that's why they said no however, I have a math degree from a great school and have shown previous experience. What can I do in this second round interview to get the job despite not having the experience they want? Any advice or resources would be much appreciated brother! Interview is on Monday :) @@andylacivita

I have been selected for a job in really excited about. I was told that my start date would be Dec 23. It's a new position. I still haven't received an offer but trust the process. I was told by the recruiter that the hiring manager is trying to get the max approved for me. During this waiting period I've been finding out more about the company and building rapport with the hiring manager/ my supervisor. I hope to build myself up even more in their eyes while I wait for an official offer $$$. I'm very anxious about the offer but I remembered someone told me, let them throw out the first numbers. So in the meantime I will continue to connect and build up my stock ...

Hi again supahero Andy! On Monday, I'll have an interview for customer service spec position at a doggie food webshop and advisory; I've got the very last open appointment. I've experienced it before that when the last candidate is on, interviewers can be bored, tired etc. Though I utilised your answer and question samples, their boredom influenced my act so it seemed unnatural. I want to prevent such a case to get repeated. I find such an issue is highly rapport-related because all secrets that influence the outcome, lie in what happens BEFORE the interview. So my question: how can I maintain the interviewers' interest in myself when I'm their candidate interviewed as last?

I am a big fan. Andy, you are great. Can you do a video on group interviews. Or being interviewed by a room full of people. This happened to me twice. The first time I went back twice to the same group of 5 and did not make it. The second time I walked into a room with what had to be 12, not kidding, and I decided to let them know what I thought if this farce. Make a long story short, I told them that if I knew I was on one those talent shows I would have put on a tux. Ripped into them while they were soeachless , got up and left.

@@andylacivita Great video as always. Pointed and action-oriented. I'll have to watch the group video and compare to how I did. I walked into one and found out right before. They apologized and mentioned everyone was going separate ways and it was one of the only ways I could meet everyone. Very senior to lower level. I would be building a new division for them. I looked around and said something like, "ok, 8 on 1. Throw out your best and I'll do mine" with a smile and making light of it. I made sure to look each person who answered in the eye, answered to the group and did a quick follow up with that person. Tough to watch 8 peoples facial expressions, but when I noticed anything, I jumped right in and asked if I could clarify anything for them. I did get the job btw. My bosses boss said my humor and quick initial response led the way for all of them and was key in their decision.

Hey Andy, I'm a medical sales rep and I just stumbled upon your posts here. Two questions: In the day and age of COVID, how do you do/don't shake hands. Is it a good idea to do or not to do? Second question. . .I've been out of interviewing for many years and see people doing different things in terms of what to wear for an interview. Should I wear a suit AND tie what's on par these days? Thanks!
@andylacivita

Toni! Lots of luck with the opportunity. Remember, the fastest way to get a detractor, or anyone for that matter, to buy in to something new, is to show them what’s in it for them. I honestly think it's not good to tell the interviewer that you were "stalking" his/her profile online, unless you choose extremely well each and every word about it, otherwise it's very easy for him to consider you a creep or something. Also, I think it's very rude to ask the interviewer you just met 1 minute ago, why he is in the company for so long (if that's the case). I may be wrong, because I've never used these tactics before, but those are my thoughts.
