I'm afraid it's not "really just as simple as that" - because wind often comes in different frequencies. I'm really surprised you don't talk about that. Often it's very low and bassy rumble - easy to isolate, or very high pitch - and again, mostly not overlapping with the frequencies of speech - but often it's the much more complex broad spectrum wind with high, low and mid range frequencies. Like the footage I'm working with today.
A good windsock on the microphone and also the consideration that if recording in a windy environment the video may be left very unnatural if all wind noise is eliminated

It was just crazy for me. I always removed the wind noise of the Noise effects, which spoiled and distorted speech. An excellent solution in this matter. HighPass and the issue is resolved )

Yeah this is awesome mike ! I am a wedding videographer and just really trying to educate myself on getting better audio. Just had a look at your presets can you recommend one that would be a good start for wedding audio - ceremony/speeches etc

Mike thanks for the video. I'm an intermediate editor. I don't understand what you did in Audition. It's like you played with high pass, then played with low pass, then back to high pass and did the same thing as the first round of playing with high pass in Audition. Then you only applied the high pass filter, which to me gave me the same result as the quick and dirty highpass filter in premiere. Help me understand please, what am I missing or doing wrong? In summary, I feel like the audition way and the premiere highpass effect give me the same result....no wind in the audio but the voice is super thinned out.
The advantage of using Audition is that you have the Spectral frequency analysis window to "see" the noise. It's true however that the voice will be thinned if the high pass filter is set too high to counter strong wind.
im struggling to find the spectral frequency view on premier pro 2022, i dont seem to have the little icon you click, any ideas on where it may be hiding
Once you've removed frequencies there is no way to put them back which is why it's important to think of things like wind before recording and if it can't be avoided use the best wind sock possible
Need to remove the hitting the mic sound from some nature videos. Is there one that can do that? I have the beautiful sound of the wind whistling through the palm trees and the birds and other Sounds of Nature and then there’s those “okay I needed a dead cat( furry sound buffer for those who didn’t know) but only learned that after I shot the video” wind sounds crashing into the mic. Listening to it, it’s only really bad for about maybe 3% of the audio, but it’s an annoying 3%. If I could just turn down that, that would be great. Let me know thanks😊
All the tips you need are in the video above but you have to be realistic and accept compromise once you’ve recorded bad wind that you’ll only be able to at best reduce that and not remove it completely.
I'm sorry to hear that the wind noise removal technique I demonstrated in the video didn't work for you. There are other techniques and plugins that may help.
To be really honest, but this video, specially in the begining, has a pretty artificial audio treatment. It sounds like a metal aspect... really weird. It doesn't sound real.
I have to be honest Mike, I am disappointed that your videos are all the top option when searching wind removal. It's not about your content. It's the way you mix your audio. It's painful for me to listen. I don't know what it is exactly, but your voice is cutting, almost like the treble is turned way up? There is no softness to the dialogue like every other video on RU-vid. I don't think your natural voice is the issue, but more of how you boost it so it sounds like you're trying to go straight through my eardrums. I spend more time on youtube than any other platform and I haven't encountered this anywhere else. Sorry to leave this bad comment, because I do appreciate all the tutorials you've made!

This is a bad example of video to work with, the wind noise is barely noticeable compared to the wind noise in most of the videos people make. His audio was already quite good.
