My dear brother my advice is to put your smartphone away from yourself after maghrib or after sunset and use only in daytime , try to stop using smartphone after sunset. Ma Sha ALLAH. Great to hear your story. ALLAH guides whomever he wants. I understand it's a lengthy process, and can't just be achieved overnight. So kudos to you. As for me, I'm proud to say (All praise be to ALLAH) that I have never been addicted to any such trends, and I have always found such stuff to be very unappealing. My friends are all into it, and they look at me like I'm an outcast or something for not looking into it. And all I think at that moment is the feeling of being grateful to ALLAH in my heart, cuz without ALLAH's mercy and guidance, I would have been lost.

Saad Ahmed Mashallah Brother May Allah keep you protected from this is shirk. I was very young when I moved to Australia from Pakistan and the types of friends I had led me into this addiction. But Alhamdulilah all of a sudden I had an urge to become more religious and come closer to Allah. I can’t thank Allah for that he has given me another chance and helped from getting my Emaan together. It almost feels like that the so called modern society that we live in today is being programmed by the Zionists to become dysfunctional. Family systems are being destroyed, young teenagers are falling for these pathetic addictions and totally ruining their lives. Alhamdulilah we have Islam, Islam is the antidote for all problems.

Look at it this way .... Most of the comment section is composed of people confessing their addiction, maybe because they want to get it out there without being overly judged (since the topic being discussed is also relevant), and maybe it's a way of comfort for them to see that there are many others like them out there who are struggling with the same addiction, and it helps them to have a positive mindset, which, mind you, can sometimes make all the difference in the world in the end. But It all comes down to intention. Sincerity is the key. But yes. ALLAH SWT is the knower of the hearts, and it definitely would've been better to just seek guidance and support from ALLAH. But different people have different levels of faith. We can't analyze them through just our own lens.

Even prophet Muhammad sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam advised a woman that came to him not to get married to a certain man named X who doesn't put his stick down (it means in Arabic that he was known for beating women). Only Allah subhaana wa ta'laa knows what's in everyone's hearts and their niyya (intention). There's nothing wrong with wanting to talk to someone who's been through something similar. We're not supposed to stay quiet and sit idle and wait things to fix magically. Sure we should ask Allah subhaana wa ta'laa first but it's okay to talk to other and ask for a piece of advice. Also, by others commenting I now have more people in my duas.

Be practical, brother. In this day and age, it's not a very sensible decision to get rid of any and all electronics. It's the need of our time. BUT .... What is needed the most is to have an understanding of what type of activity will benefit us in the long run, and what will harm us. As regards addiction, it is naturally very hard to get rid of, be it social media or other. It all comes down to the addict in the end. IF he wants to commit towards betterment and is sincere, then nothing is impossible. No one else can make us get rid of our addictions. Others can only help. It is YOU who needs to realize the endgame and work towards seeking the path to recovery. Not to mention FAITH, a very important pre-requisite that's gonna drive you towards self-improvement.

Salam. I dont usually comment but i hope this helps a little as it did help me. What youre going through is somewhat an existential crisis. And dont worry its normal to have an existential crisis. Its Allah's way of making you search for the truth. So for your first question about angels. I know its difficult to believe in something that you cannot see or imagine properly. There are many colours that we have never seen before because our eyes are literally and biologically unable to do so. Nor are we able to imagine those colours regardless of how creative our minds are. But it has been scientifically proven that other colours exist! Just that humans cant see them. You wonder if the Prophets ever existed. Because youve never met them? Because there were no pictures? But then again, what about your great great great x5000 great grandparents? How do you know they exist? There are no photos and youve never met them. Or lets say any historical figures back then. Pharoas unseen. Yet, you know they exist. But all this no matter how much i try, will all depend on your pillars of faith. Atheists believe that the earth was made randomly. Like a lottery ticket. But we both know how undoubtedly insane big the probability would have been. How is it so coincidental that the earth is exactly 149.6 million km away from the sun? The perfect distance, just right to sustain lifeform? That the earth has all the molecules needed to create life and everything thats needed to sustain this life? The universe is perfect to its very minute details. To the cells and the molecules. Everything is perfectly aligned. Now its up to you. To decide whether or not you want to believe thats all random or theres an intelligent all knowing creator that created all this.
