Can I use colored slip instead of underglaze? This was the question, and now other things: I checked more videos from you (and will check all of them), and I want to let you know, that they are really useful, informative, detailed (but not too much), understandable, so really-really great, and I would like to say thank you, it's real professionalism, not just about ceramics but also how to teach. I learned a lot, and I'm really grateful.

You do such beautiful art this is nice, just a question if you let your pieces cool down in the kiln does the glaze crack too? i want to do some palette for watercolor paint but I'm afraid the paint will get in the crack. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
@donhallworks

I have never tried that. It may crack a little but since you are not putting it in a smoky fire carbon will not form in the cracks. Good Luck let me know how it comes out.

👍Excellent video - thanks for posting One question - how do you achieve the 'orange sun' on the plate (the one used for the start image of the RU-vid video). I'm puzzled why there are no crackles going through this part of the image. Thanks again for taking the time to make and post the video - it is much appreciated

You are welcome. The orange is underglaze painted on when the bowl is green. There are fine cracks in it that you can't see in the photo. the underglaze and glaze are thicker there so it doesn't crack that much.

Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo !😉 Je suis française et je ne comprend pas le nom des matériaux utilisés pour realiser la barbotine qui couvre la pièce en dernière etape ,avant cuisson raku...pourriez vous me l'écrire? Thank you very much for this video!😉 I am French and I do not understand the name of the materials used to make the slip which covers the piece in the last step, before raku firing... could you write it to me?
@donhallworks

it is a clear low fire glaze.Good Luck. Il s'agit d'un vernis transparent à faible feu. Bonne chance

The porcelain is not paint it is porcelain clay that you can buy at your local ceramic supply store. Not sure the brand. It comes in a 25ld bag and I thin it down with water.
