How often do I give these essential nutrients to my dog? I've been feeding him the PMR diet for about a year now and I am confident to add these nutrients in order to have an overall more balanced diet. I was wondering do I give my dog salmon/sardines everyday? Do I give him cooked mussels everyday? or is it a 3 times a week thing. Thank you I love your videos
She has videos that go more in depth on your question. You don't have to be extremely specific, as long as you follow the basics and switch it up every other week or so. Even the minimum raw feeding effort is 98% better than kibble.
From what I gathered you don’t HAVE to give it to them everyday so long as they are meeting their nutritional meals. There are other alternatives you can mix in as well that’ll give them around the same nutrients/mineral. For example her supplements, if you don’t want to buy mussels and oysters constantly you can simply drop in the proper amount of supplements and that’s another raw food you have to worry less about. AND in my opinion will last longer than mussels and oysters, slightly less money being spent month to month
I think someone should make like calorie tracking app for rawfeeders😅I also love how i'm educating myself about raw diets for dogs while I have already tried multiple times to get my parents to feed our dogs raw. I have showed them a few of your video's, I have offered to make the meals I have even offered to buy it. But they still don't want it. Yet i'm trying to learn everything about this way of feeding your dog😋
I have been feeding raw since 2008 yet this is the best explanation for anyone. I feed RMB most of the time. This is a great help for me to improve what I’m doing (which is a lot). I found on the video what I need to do. The issue I have now after the 100% I am not sure what to do for the remaining parts of the nutrients. I have just downloaded the Raw Meal Formulator lets see if it helps. I hope it has growing puppies
Hi. First, thank you for the education of feeding raw to my dog. I trust you and use you as one of my main sources of information. I have a large greyhound name Hope. I was recently reminded this breed has special/different needs than other breeds. I feed him the BARF model diet. To your your knowledge, is there anything I should alter for his breed? My research has not found much. Thanks.
We live on the west coast! I would never give my dog raw salmon unless you want your dog to suffer salmon poisoning. Everything else I agree with. If you do let your dog get salmon poisoning, so they can eat raw salmon. Don't wait to long to talk them to the vet. My husband's a fisherman, we had been through this! It's awful for your dog.
Thank you for another great video. What was the main source of zinc in this meal. I'm wondering when I should add oysters and when it's not necessary ;)
The beef and thigh! The neck had a decent amount as well. Technically adding an oyster to this meal would have been beneficial because it would have improved the zinc:copper and zinc:iron ratio, but I didn't want to confuse/overwhelm beginners.
Could you cover something please. Raw meats with the fur. How do I ensure they won't get my pup sick? I know lots of hunters and they will gladly give me bones and meat scrap for my pup. However I see on here what looks to be like legs with fur. How would I wash or prep it properly to do what I can to help kill off worms and such from wild game? Also I am nervous about feeding heads and whole body parts. If I were to feed a rabbit head, do I need to remove the teeth or anything??
My pup eats wild rabbits that she catches herself. She is a tiny terrier yet eats almost everything - usually, she only leaves the guts and the top of the skull. Dogs are built to eat raw prey, and as long as the animal they are eating is not poisoned, they will be fine! You don't have to do any prep, just make sure you either feed it fresh or store it frozen.
i felt it was kind of dangerous how it wasn't mentioned that raw salmon can give your dog salmon poisoning and is rly dangerous, plz don't feed your dog raw salmon
Raw salmon that's been properly prepared is safe for pets. That's why it's a good idea to freeze for a few weeks if you're not sure how your salmon was prepared before purchasing it.
@Paws of Prey - how did you know how much salmon and cooked blue muscles to add to make up for those lacking nutrients? looking to go Raw for my boxer, just not sure how you were able to determine how much of those items to add. Thanks.
Hi, there are some raw food premix supplement powders on the market. It makes the whole process of food prep much easier. But there're not too many reviews on those products. That would be great if you can share your opinion on it. Thank you!
hi im in the stage of purchasing your formulator, but the payment can not go through, itried many bank Visa card, well it doesn't work. please help thank you
I ordered a good bone meal because my dog won't eat bones or cartilage, etc. How much powdered bone meal should I add to 8 oz or my prepared raw meats and organs? Do they need veges or fruits?
I would love to know what your thoughts are for like training , I’m assuming what you decide to see the dog facing of the dogs weight and include all the nutrients and just maybe have like some of that being their treats when training and then the rest fed up dinner or breakfast whenever they like to eat? My other question is about 86 weeks now they’re probably close to six months and they’ve been on the taste of wild puppy food and selling shoes. Do you think I could just switch them like a puppy or should I do the transition?
Can you recommend a pre made raw brand? I plan on switching to raw but want to start with a good pre made then slowly learn how to source and create my own.
So I’m seeing a lot of concerns regarding E coli and other dangerous bacteria in raw meats for dogs. On most dog health sites. I can’t really find much on websites about raw feeding regarding the safety of it all. How do I avoid my dog getting sick? Some of this seems unsafe.
It is my understanding that raw pork to dogs due to parasites within the meat, can you cite some sources to dispell this this you are obviously providing pork to your carnivores?
Hi! I’ve been doing a balanced NRC diet for my puppy and she’s been extremely itchy. Thinking possibility the chicken/beef. Quick questions. It’s difficult finding the organs for other prey so is it possible to feed a whole raw turkey of course based on the weight of my puppy and the weight of the turkey. Would there be enough nutrients? Thank you so much. Love you videos
hello! I just started a raw diet for my two doggies. Do we have to freeze the meat before serving it to them if we bought it from the supermarket (not frozen)?
Hi! Im having a little trouble with the cheat sheet. My dog is 130 lbs. According to the math he should be eating a little over a lb of meat a day, which seems a little low to me ?
ALSO a tips video solely on getting your dog to transition to a raw diet. I have one dog that acts like raw or even under-cooked meats are pure poison, won't even look at them.
please respond! Is feeding dogs and cats canned sardines from the grocery store okay? Not sure where else to get them because everyone is saying canned sardines aren’t the best for them-
So $3.20 per day for a little dog or $96 per month. Translating that to my 70 lbs, 8 month old Catahoula puppy puts my monthly cost up around $400. That’s nuts. Do you have a more economical recipe from common grocery store selections? I’m looking at chicken eggs, beef, whole chicken, beef tripe, hog maws, chicken gizzards, hearts, beef liver, hogs feet, head cheese; are all very reasonable and available at the grocery store. Throw in salmon skins from the human table once a week, good to go. Add a small portion of blueberries and veggies (prey gut contents) and a canine nutritional supplement pill now and then to be safe if needed. No? At 2 lbs per day times $2/lb avg, that’s $120 per month. At $3/lb avg, it’s $180/mo.
Hi, I have a SUPER picky eater. I really want to provide the best nutrition but every raw thing I’ve tried, he won’t get close to. Do you have any recipes or recommendations for me to look into for cooked recipes? I am trying to create a holistic meal without toppers or supplements if possible but am trying to move away from kibble
Instead of kelp powder could I use kombu in a small amount instead? I have a 25lb Papillion/border collie mix, how would I calculate how much to give him?
Thank you so much for the informative video. I am feeding my pets cooked homemade diet. Raw feeding though seems work theoretically but I need to progress slowly. I want to start with raw meaty bone like chicken wings and legs. Do you mean that we can feed the frozen meat after defrosting in the fringe. Does it need to be put outside to retain the room temperature. Thx
Your tutorials are my bible for feeding my crew (currently at 9 with five of those being rescues looking for homes). I joined a coop and buy in bulk. We calculated the cost and found it to be not much more than quality kibble with moisture add-ons. Still, I find myself watching nine dogs poo since that is my guide for what needs to be tweaked! what we do for the love of dog! :)
Can you make a video about best dry and wet food? My dogs don't want to eat raw(3yo havanesse and mix breed medium size dog (around 15kg, 15 yo)) , and honestly I don't have time to prep/defrost etc. Now they eat acana small breed dry food and Rocco classic beef wet food, also i like to coock for them when i cook for myself (offten coock them chicken hearts and liver, beef heart, beef, chicken, pork and turkey meat. Also we breed rabbits at home so they offten get coocked rabbit meat and organs and fresh rabbit bones and ears as treats sometimes) Also i'm from EU (Croatia) so can you tell us more about european dog food? I believe we here have different laws about dog food. Thanks :)
Could you help me please, I have been giving raw to my dog poppy who is 13 years and 5 months old for almost 2 years now - she loves it but she won't eat the bones and I'm finding it hard to substitute her bone intake Thanks you 💕
Hello! I have a small hobby farm of rabbits and chickens. Would it make sense to just give them the entire carcass if we're basing the nutritional value on the whole animal?
Wow this is great education for us beginners, however I’m gonna have to develop a stomach for being able to do this. It seems sooo gross but obviously great for our fur babies. I’m nervous about feeding raw chicken, since I’ve always heard the “danger” of eating raw chicken.
Thank you for the informative video!! I am looking at feeding my dog raw but am a vegetarian myself so know next to nothing about meat. This is super helpful for me!!
can you please make a video comparing the same parts from different animals? e.g. I remember liver from ruminant animals and ducks need to have a reduced ratio! I'd just like to know which animals to prioritize when shopping for parts (more nutritionally balanced/optimal), thank you!!
I have a Pomeranian puppy, and I did start her on raw feeding and she loves it! But since I’ve been told Pomeranian are prone to teeth problems, I wonder if raw meaty bones are enough to keep her teeth clean and healthy? Or should I still brush her teeth?
Hi There Hope everything is well with you and your 4 legged companions. Just a quick question is the 10% of body weight for a 9 weeks old puppy feeding is for the whole day, or 10% of body weight per meal? Thanks
Can you recommend a good but affordable kelp powder and Vit E oil, please? Btw, just started watching your videos to help me with my pups raw feeding diet and they are so helpful!!
How do you work out percentages? Do you just eyeball it? How do you work out how much food they need? And do they not need any vegetables or eggs? Also, can you just give a whole rabbit every day? Or equivalent for smaller dogs?
Hi, I am a new mum of a black toy cavoodle named shadow, he is 14 weeks. I have been watching videos and tutorials on how to transition to a raw diet. I noticed you don’t feed your dog the whole egg, What do you think about it?
Quick question, how much bone meal powder should I give if I feed my pup the Now bone meal? I replaced my chicken bones with duck necks (to resolve an allergy problem) but my dog won't eat them. I'm about to order some from Amazon and there's a recurring order option but until I know how much she needs, I don't know how often I will need a replacement tub. my pup is supposed to eat 200g of duck necks and they are rated as 50% bone so does anyone know how that translates into bone meal powder?
Thank you for the awesome guide. My Dog is 2yrs old GSD and I rescued her 3 months ago. I went for check up to see if she is healthy as she is kinda skinny and the results are she is high in Blood Urea Nitrogen, Calcium and Creatine. Vet recommended to do renal diet which she never liked those renal dry food. Can I still go with raw feeding and this ratio?
I was wondering in your recent video about things to never do when raw feeding you said not to hand feed raw meat however in some of your clips you hand feed your dog I was also wondering if I hand feed cats would that promote resource guarding My dog and cats are very gentle and I don’t think think they would show resource guarding and maybe hand feeding dogs and cats could be good so that they don’t have that problem
Question! My dog likes to take mouthfuls of kibble and carry it into the other room to eat lol. How do you ensure the dogs eating area is clean and sanitary? I could lock or gate her into a room to eat, but either way I feel like this type of feeding comes with a lot of sanitizing lol. How do you keep your home clean with messy eaters?
Do you have to freeze the meat first before giving to them for a certain time? I mean If we just found a chicken/beef that hv been just cut in the butcher can it straight away be fed to our dog?
So my husband and I live in Gainesville, FL and I've been supplementally feeding my dog raw (just adding chicken feet and neck to kibble) until I had time to sit down and do the research. I was just saying I get a lot of this stuff from Wards and then an image of Wards came on the screen. 😂😂
Not gonna lie.. I have been going to a butcher for all the meats and ordering online. . And I went to an asian market and was so disgusted... just felt so much different.
@@CarolePrettyful there is plenty of collagen and great things from raw feeding Miami. There is still a huge difference from pasture /ranches to farm factories. And you can see the difference
@@Magickfae you should get the food from where ever you feel comfortable. I wasnt disperaging your selections. I was referring to the wonderful variety of options we can see at markets like many asian markets. They include items not typically consumed for SAD for people and dogs. I believe we need to rethink what is healthy food.
@@CarolePrettyful but the asian markets quality of meat is low. . You can still get that same selection from other companies that source the animals from better places
Have you seen the RU-vid channel ‘bounce the pitbull’? I’d love it if you could do a review on one of those videos or at least based on what you saw in the video(s). Mr. Bounce is clearly cared for, but even though he’s likely only eating once per day it just seems like SO MUCH food. I’d love to hear your take on him. Are all the foods he’s being fed really safe? Is it as much as it seems to be? Etc…
Bounce is a cutie! And his mukbang videos are cool to watch. I'm not sure what his daily diet is, but from the mukbang videos it's definitely not balanced haha. Maybe they're balancing over time or having off days for filming - not sure!
They're not! But they're still a great food item to add in (cooked or pureed) for a fiber boost if they need it. They also provide additional phytonutrients
