I really want you to bring back the “what high schoolers are wearing” series. Maybe even do college students. That’s how I discovered your channel years ago! My absolute favorite
This is actually the first video i’ve seen of yours and I absolutely love it! I love watching vlogs and reading so this was a perfect combination of the two types of youtube videos i enjoy watching. Please do more booktube videos!
you were one of the people this year who really motivated me to read. started in late october, and i'm still going strong. absolutely love this content! (im also really excited to read taylor jenkins reid since you've recommended her books a lot) 😊
this is amazing! quick note.. instead of linking books to amazon, you could link to local book stores in nyc / around the country who could use the business more :)
You could also just put the authors name, the title and the ISBN number in the description box instead of amazon links. With the number it's helpful for other people to find the exact edition you were reading if they also have the same font/layout preferences as you :))
IT ENDS WITH US!! This book is a love story with twist and turns. It’s impossible to put down but you also just wanna throw it across the room. This book made me exited to read again and I recommend it to everyone!
I NEEDED this video. Thank you Lexie. I am a few years older but the amount of insight and impact your vlogs and podcast have had on me this year is absolutely incredible. I’m the type who will start a book super excited but then it lives on the nightstand for weeks-months before I have to restart and the cycle repeats itself. It’s one of my 2022 goals to read & run more ;) Thank you for being you.
I’ve been binging your podcast this week and now this video pops up! Love everything you do Lexie, feels like I’m listening to the older sister I never had 🤍
Also I don’t know how many intersections we have in our reading but I think you would really like “Good Talk” by Mira Jacob, Educated by Tara Westover, Passing by Nella Larsen, The Beggar Maid by Alice Munroe, and Brick Lane by Monica Ali.
i recommend essay or short story collections! i have a short attention span so its easy to take a break from reading them and pick them back up without trying to remember what just happened. just finished my body by emily ratajkowski and revenge by yoko ogawa and i def recommend both. :)
Bought My Year of Rest and Relaxation yesterday and finished it today because of this video! First book I’ve read for pleasure/not school in years. So excited to get back into reading
i gotta say, i randomly picked up Hank Green's book An Absolutely Remarkable Thing after YEARS of not reading (just because i love that man and was curious to see how his writing would compare to his brother's) and i couldn't put it down and finished it in a couple of days. sooooo good!!!
I loveee hearing you talk about books!! & I also just recently found your Goodreads, I really love reading your reviews as you have a wonderful taste in books!
Lexie if u want a fun book to read I would recommend this one called “Please Kill me” it’s a collection of interviews with musicians and people who pioneered the punk movement in the 1970’s , mostly about nyc’s punk scene but they go into other things. Sort of overlapped with patti smiths”just kids”. So so good, highly recommended
Yayy this video was perfect! I’ve been reading again for around a year and a half now. I love it so much. I’m still trying to discover what genre I like. Every book I’ve read that’s thriller/mystery I’ve loved alot. I would recommend my lovely wife ❤️ excited to see more videos about books ily
The book that got me reading again after years of struggling to fly through books as I did as a kid was: LIFE UNDERCOVER: COMING OF AGE IN THE CIA by Amaryllis Fox. Its technically a memoir, but with wild stories of her time in the CIA, and she does a great job at adding in metaphors and symbolism throughout her own journey!!! Would recommend 100%
Graphic novels always get me out of a reading rut. Sure, it feels like cheating, but it's an enjoyable story that gets my brain going again. Also! A book I could not put down this year was “The Pessimists” by Bethany Ball.
lol i totally feel you on rating a book initially and realizing you felt differently about it!! whenever i chat about books with my friends i always wait 2-3 days after so i can fully process my thoughts about it!! as for favorite books i read this year: supper club by lara williams / severance by ling ma / a gentleman in moscow by amor towles / 7 husbands of evelyn hugo by taylor jenkin reid / crying in h mart by michelle zauner
I LOVE YOU LEXIE SO MUCH I AM NOT KIDDING THE CONTENT OOOH LA LA YOUR PERSONALITY OOH LA LA. Also when in see your channel it is like I really want to become friends with you
Seven husbands Evelyn Hugo got me back into reading! Also down the rabbit hole by holly Madison (a tell all from a playboy bunny). I need the spicy books to keep it fun!
I love books and read a lottt so I'm buzzing to see you do more book content! I recently stopped giving books a rating because, similar to what you mentioned, I often found that reflecting back my rating would be veryyy different!
Thank you for all the recommendations! I’m almost done with the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and I’m convincing all my friends to read it too. So that we can talk about it.
the book that got me into reading: The Voice of the Night by Dean Koontz (suspense/ horror) It’s about two teenage boys who are different in personality, becoming friends in a small town in the 80s. They become reckless together and reveal their dark thoughts and messed up past. There’s never a dull moment in this book, which makes it a quick read. Book tw: animal abuse, SA
Hi Lexie read Anxious People by Frederick Backman! It is really lighthearted and fun but touches on important topics. Veryyyyy captivating. Book of the year!!!
I have ADD, but I enjoy holding a book in my hands and turning the pages to feel the progress. I also like to take notes in the margins. But I find getting focused and getting into the habit of reading hard.
@@LexieLombard Knowing that you understand the struggle, I now have a lot of hope that I can do this! Thank you so much for the advice, I’ll try this out. 💗
I loved reading 7 Hubbies of EH although it broke me for days - I'm not sure I've totally recovered! Unfortunately I can't get into Daisy Jones & the 6 - I keep losing track of who is who! I'm tempted to try again from the beginning as I am only maybe 60 pages in. I recently finished The Audacity an autobiography by Katherine Ryan who is a Canadian comedian who is really popular here in the UK and it was so good, she's so witty and it was a fabulous easy read I would recommend it even if you don't know her comedy!
High fidelity by Nick Hornby. It is actually a book i have to read for an exam (im an English major) but its an easy read and probably one of my favorites now
I went into Evelyn Hugo thinking I wouldn’t love it because it isn’t my usual genre. I LOVED EVELYN HUGO. ( and I loved Daisy Jones too, but Malibu Rising didn’t do it for me.)
book that got me to start back on reading: the midwife murders by james patterson. short chapters, straight to the point and really funny writing style. i have a hard time reading multiple books at one (since i have books for school) but this one really got me hooked
"A Really Good Day" is definitely going on my list;) I recommend any book by Tom Robins; his vocabulary is immense, but the storylines are absurd and hilarious.
how do you like me now? by holly bourne got me reading again! my attention span is so shit and i'm starting to think audiobooks really don't do it for me, i get too distracted by everything - i need to have something to physically hold. really recommend this book, it's an easy read and probably helpful for a lot of young women
