I made a deck of divination cards based on your method to take with me to an art opening, to do one-card readings there at the event. One lady pulled a spade card from the deck. I said it was an earth card. She said, "Yes, I'm an earth person." When I looked at her, I realized she was right! Her hair and eyes were black. Everything about her was giving off spade-like sensations. The cards were working beautifully.
BRILLANT..ETHRA..first we dream..and if we CATCH the dream we bring it down to herth..thnk you so much to help me finde the answer for my home mde oracle deck..Rose..
Hey Ana ❤ So I sort the new cards im my journal: the names, the suites and colors, their numbers and their meanings! It's a funny thing and it is very helpful! Thanks a lot 😊 Harald
Hi Roopa. Yes, different systems have different elements assigned to the different suits. If you are using The Playing Card Oracles cards/system, it is highly recommend to stay with the suit and element associations given in book, as not doing this will ROYALLY screw up the readings :-)
@Stefa it depends if you are going off the colours/looks, or the *meaning* of the elements. For example - earth is the material realm, money etc. Whereas fire is about passion, drive, life force etc... And spades/air being the mental/intellectual realm. The only one that resonates me with Ana's system is the hearts. I am slowly trying to learn this system though as the concepts are great, just very different to the system I use. I also read tarot so this is 3 different systems of elements to learn lol
Thank you Ana for making these available! I have your deck and book and finding the additional video format so informative and encouraging! Im traveling right now and you are with me in this form along the way :)
I like what you said about the bridge lifting us above what happened in the past (i.e. the "water under the bridge" which means those things in the past that we can no longer affect).
Hi Jenssy. Thanks for your question, yes the meaning of upside down cards can change or become more specific when upside down. Check out video #13 - "How to read reversed cards" in this series. Here 's the link for you: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k941dsyoQBc.html
Can you talk about your understanding of why "C J" put two dragons on the Terra Incognita card and the snake dangling from their intertwined tails below (as well as the chains)?
On page 63 of your book TPCO, you state: }"Interpretive techniques discussed later in the text will help you decide which meanings apply in a given instance." Can you tell me which pages (and which techniques) this reference on page 63 is referring to?
Hi Captain Nolan. Terrific question! Thanks for the opportunity to specify. For these techniques I would look to the meanings of the card positions, all of the techniques in the chapter, "Determining the Weather," plus geomantic interpretations. Thanks again :-))
I have some thoughts about the nines. After searching for the history of Gilles de Rais i started thinking of the 9 of hearts as also a feeling of injustice. Consedering that he was a friend of Joana d'Arc and theoretically speaking, got so outraged with her verdict that he went crazy and stuff. Not saying that what he did was right in any form. Hell no! Just a form to interpret the card. Also, when I imagine a throne of spiders, I see an abandoned throne in a castle at the dark of the night, like it's there but the king is absent for a long time, so naturally the spiders and their cobwebs dominate the throne. I'm not really sure how this is linked with the originals meanings of the card. Just some thoughts.
Love this! I love how you're using your visionary skills combined with your own research to develop a personal relationship to these archetypes. Beautiful! All your observations here could definitely be useful within readings. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Ana, I watched your videos again and again, but some cards I still can't understand very well. I also can't afford the book cause I'm very young and my family wouldn't use money on that. The card I still can't feel too well are: 3 of clubs: what I get is that sometimes you gotta make decisions and for that you're gonna need some mental clarity, but I don't see the connection with the other 3s. 4s, winds would be the intensity of things? 5 of clubs, literally no clue, confusion? But I thought confusion was like the 4 of diamonds, so the one who gets confused in the is actually myself 5 spades, this one represent filling trapped or suffocated in a material way, like a lot of work? 7 of clubs I just didn't get really the meaning 9 of clubs is idealism, this would means that your efforts got into results? 9 of hears is a card that as I seen in a review can get a positive side on the excessive emotions, how it is? Lady of spades, she is quite and serving, but practically what this brings us to reality. Obedience? That all what I got and I feel that it has a lot more, so I want to know Jack of heart, what o get is that he got secret and he's the "boyfriend", but isn't strange when you think about a boyfriend but have this energy of a liar or a traitor? What is his meaningful connection with the heart suit? Queen of diamonds could have some negative side? I'm really really sorry for all of the questions, I'm starting now and I love your system, I just use normal playing cards for the sane reason that I can't have the book. Sorry if I couldn't express my self correctly (English isn't my first language) and sorry for the amount of questions again. Love from Brazil ❤️🇧🇷
Hi Thirasgo. Thank you so very much for commenting and for all your questions. I am impressed how much thought you are putting into your card meanings. All of these are good questions. Remember it is normal when first learning the card meanings to have many questions. This is the cards beginning to come alive in you. They give riddles to us to awaken our minds. So be patient with yourself. I really feel it would be great for you to get a copy of the book to help you along. The rest comes with time spent with the cards. Is it possible you can get an ebook? Try the discount code EBOOKSPECIAL at store dot anacortez dot com and maybe you can get it no charge. Give that a try. Keep up the great work. --Ana C.
Hi MaryAnn. Thanks for your question! You can buy the cheaper version on amazon: www.amazon.com/Playing-Card-Oracles-Deck-Cortz/dp/1572815256. or the "vintage" version at my store: store.anacortez.com/collections/all/products/vintage-playing-card-oracles-original-edition
10-15 years ago, USGames put out a larger size deck, tarot deck size, and it’s a great deck, but out of print and almost impossible to find now. If you don’t mind the little playing card size, USGames now makes one like that, it’s mass produced and easy to find. I don’t mind the small size...but the larger size of this deck is more fun to use. So if I were going to buy, I’d get the original self published version, which is still available on the author’s website. The cards aren’t thick, but they are well made and just have a more special vibe than the USGames smaller deck.
Hi Rocklee, Thank you for your comment! 10's you will find in the video "The Courts and How to Use Them." The Playing Card Oracles is a restoration of the original structure of the deck which means 10's are part of the Court. I think there is more on this topic in the video mentioned, but also in the book. Thanks for your question!
Hi Adrianna. Great question! Tens are in the next video in the Oracle School series, "The Courts and How to Use Them." The Playing Card Oracles way of reading uses 10's as younger female Courts instead of as lower numbered "pip" cards. Check it out to learn more! Thanks again for asking:-))
Hi Great question. Here is the video to see, "Layouts as Pictures vs. Reversed Cards: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k941dsyoQBc.html.
But ... but ... that 2 of Hearts! Those two people, they are tied together but reaching for different things. I find this card painful ... and contradictory to the idea of "love," as I understand it!!!!! (Sorry. Many exclamation points required to share my pain on this.)
Hi Jamie. Thanks for your comment. Your observation is astute. The 2 of Hearts is more about a bond of emotion, which can feel like we are captive in a way. For a card representing "love" specifically I would choose the 7 of Hearts, which has it's ups and downs as well!
