VERY well done. I'm new to re-amping, doing research on the different ways to do it, and love that any of my buffered pedals can replace the need for a re-amp box for home studio work. Thank you for very concise explanation and demos

Hey man, nice video and thanx for the info. I ended up using a DI box in reverse for reamping as I could not find a reamp box in locally. It is difficult to find descent equipment in SA so reamping seems a bit more of a mission. Shout out from Centurion. \m/

Great idea and super cool that you demonstrated it with multiple pedals. I have recently bought an IK Multimedia Z-Tone Buffer Boost pedal and I am anxious to try to re-amp with it. It has multiple outputs. (One 1/4" Hi-Z out, one TRS Balanced out and one XLR balanced out). So that hopefully should give me a lot of options. It also has a variable impedance control...Thanks for doing the video. Well done...All the best. (Gave you a Sub also)... Phil NYC Area

Hi Andy, this sounds awesome. I have a noisy tube amp that I can’t seem to quiet down enough for miking (it’s probably the tubes, I’ve tried everything else), would this method get the amp noise into the recording as well? Sorry I can’t quite make out the relevant comment you made @ 1:07 “from there, my amplifier’s running ... returning itself back into the interface”. I haven’t got my amp with me atm so that’s why I’m asking instead of trying it myself, thanks in advance!
@Andy7String
@Andy7String 3 года назад
Hi, thank you for watching. If you have a noisy amp, the best thing to do is to put a noise gate in front of it, if you have a boss ns2 and your amp has an effects loop, you can double up the noise gate running it through the front and the effects at the same time which helps alot. I don't think that reamping will make the amp quieter as it is doing the same thing as normal playing, the signal is coming from a Di in the DAW. At 1:07 I am talking about my method of recording, I run the amp through a moss waza tube amp expander and that goes back into the sound card. Most people will use a mike tho. Hope this helps :)

Hey I have a doubt I hope you can help me, let's say that I have the guitar tracks already recorded but they're dry, no reverd or effects just the Amp sound. Can I use this method od reamping to add effects to my previously recorded tracks?
@johanneschristopherstahle3395
@johanneschristopherstahle3395 8 месяцев назад
You could, but I would not suggest you to do so. You already have the sound of your amp captured and this process will not remove this sound from your recording. Reamping will just add to this and can lead to strange results. If the sound is pretty clean, it might work, but beware that the speakers will have affected the sound as well. What I would do is to add effects either in the box or via outboard gear. This can be rack effects or guitar pedals as well. Mike Stent used guitar pedals on the vocals of the Spice Girls, they can really sound great even if they are being hit at the wrong impedance. I never had any issues using this method.

Does it work without turning on the pedal? Not even plugging it to AC for power? Thanks for the video!
@Andy7String
@Andy7String 3 года назад
Hi Teakei, it does depend on the pedal, some have a true bypass engaged when the pedal is not on, as in, the light is not on. I am not sure about the AC power thing, all the pedals tested had the AC Power. Thank you for watching.
@ReckDemon
@ReckDemon 3 года назад
@@Andy7String I see. Thank you very much for the reply. I actually tried it the same way as you, with a Boss ns2 plugged to power while not engaged and compared the DI signal by measuring through a meter. It's not a big difference. It made the overall sound lower by 1db and the loudness peak and dynamic range were slightly different too. I hope I done it right.
@Andy7String
@Andy7String 3 года назад
@@ReckDemon thats great news! If it sounds good to you it is normally an indication of being acceptable.
@PippPriss
@PippPriss 2 года назад
@@ReckDemon it's normal, since you are in the end compressing ever so slightly since most likely you will have to push up the gain knob a bit on the line out. I usually do an A/B test, on hi gain settings I get a fairly similar tone which you can barely differentiate from the original. Maybe in my case the reamped signal even had a slight, but really marginal difference in the low end (more "muddy" than the original).

Would the boss looper pedal work well u think?
@Andy7String
@Andy7String 3 года назад
Hi Marcos, you can export your Di signal and copy it directly onto the Boss Pedal if its connected to your PC. This is a different way of doing it but really effective as one can ensure the Di signal is optimal, edited for timing etc and then played back through an amp. Thank you for watching

Hi, most guitar pedals have a built in buffer, check out the manual to see if yours does. From the demo, you could see there were quiet a few. Thank you for watching
@johanneschristopherstahle3395
@johanneschristopherstahle3395 8 месяцев назад
Buffers are usually cheaper than the switches you would need to let the untouched signal pass the pedal (true bypass). So if they don't tell you the pedal is probably buffered. Not all buffers will sound the same. The one's from Pete Cornish or Morley are known to sound really great, but just try what you have. I never felt the need of a reamping box and have done this even without using any pedals between my interface and the amp's input.
