Wow. I was curious, but why do other repairers tend to just call something "unfixable" when it's to do with the southbridge? Is it just, it's so fiddly and painful that it's too much time to repair, is it too costly? Just curious really.. Loved the video, so cool to see the finished product!
Love your videos!! 🤩 Have been using same brand support for BGA153 reball, just my 2c here: - for prepping the chip, you can put the black plate with the chip on the back of the main base, that way the magnets won't interact with whatever metallic tool you will be using during cleaning and paste deposition. - no need to apply extra pressure on the stencil: if you preheat the stencil with circular motion before concentrating the heat in the central part, the stencil will "deform" with heat and will be pulled even more in the center by the magnet creating better contact with the chip's surface. Then you can concentrate the heat in the center 😊
Thank you for the tips. I have problems with my stencil aggresively deforming from the heat, sending things flying. Same stencil, same bga153 nand module. I've been applying extreme pressure with tweezers to prevent this, but will try pre heating.
@@nickwaters2802 I use 260°C/50% air with leaded paste and 8mm nozzle. Take your time pre-heating, do few circles for 10-15s, and then shorten the radius and concentrate in the central part: the balls should start to pop-up after some seconds
Thanks for this, I bought a similar jig to reball Switch chips to fix blue screens, but when I added heat the stencil would flex, I didnt think about holding it down, will now give it another go.
Great video - thank you. Nice tip of using the tweezers to hold down the stencil - although the stencil is direct heat capable, I have found it can sometimes move when the hot air is applied, so great tip with the tweezers!
@@chasefournier me?!?! I would probably toast the PCB! Not sure if the PS 4 can support 16GB, so a RAM chip upgrade may not work! I wonder if Phil, the cod3r tried?
The links in your video do not link direkt to this product you show!!! The EMMC Stencil goes to a other link.. Can you check please.. I would like to buy this thing you show in europe.
This is the link I have for the USA. You can probably check AliExpress and see if there's one on there that you can ship to Europe easier. www.injuredgadgets.com/amaoe-bga-south-bridge-reballing-stencil-for-ps5-gpu-cxd90061gg-w-tin-scraping-blade-stencil-magnet-base-positioning-plate/
@@chasefournierfun fact for you both since I have access to a multistage industrial reflow oven, a sustained 250C environment for a few minutes will hold solder in a melted state. Ideally you'd heat from below the controller if possible, and 360C is plenty safe. 400C at shorter duration, 450C will explode the balls, 500C both the board and controller's inner layers will delaminate and any amount of humidity inside will catastrophically cause the component's functionality to end. ❤
