If you don’t have a roller stand: a plastic or metal folding chair has a slight lean back. You can put a sheet over the chair to prevent scuffing (or painters tape around the wheel edges) and turn the wheel without it going anywhere. Also makes it a good work height when seated in your living room watching tv

Got mine from them back 2017 and have no issues and still got the wheels til this day. I’m actually doing a 2nd rebuild on them right now and doing it myself really easy to do.

Thank you. I really appreciate the time you took to teach your craft. I have a set of HRE 3pc wheels that I had refinished at a wheel shop that is supposed to be the best around. Well similar to this wheel. These clowns lost some of my through bolts I guess and decided they would silicone a bolt in that wasn't even long enough to pass through the wheel. I need to bring them elsewhere now because the coatings are peeling but I will be doing the disassembly and assembly myself thanks to you.

I had to change out my wheel lip to a 3.5" on my Gotti J55B rims. 32 bolts with nuts. Next time I will have a Makita 18V impact to speed it up. Once apart I used my favorite knife to remove the silicone sealer. I ended up using a wire wheel to remove all the excess silicone. Will follow up with acetone before reassembling wheels. I like your method of applying the silicone sealer. Great video.

If you are reusing bolts there is no real torque spec. The "standard" is 17 ftlbs

I use the backside of a plastic spoon, or a piece of rubber fuel line to smooth the silicone in grooves. Saves on gloves.

hey man, what would you recommend for stripping chrome plating off of aluminum wheels, I have superstar lodio drive behavior wheels and two of them are chrome. I was thinking muriatic acid since electrolysis doesn't work on aluminum? thanks a bunch

regarding cutting the weld on a 3 piece wheel, I called literally 20+ companies, wheel and machine shops, and most of them didn't understand what I needed, and the others said they would "need to see it".

chrome just sucks sometimes, best you can do is keep it clean and dont let water sit on it for extended periods

Id rather "pinch" the powder as I tighten more bolts, but it also gives the silicone more cure time as I continue to install and tighten all bolts.

Do you not recommend putting silicone between the lip and barrel for an extra seal before bolting the rim together? Or is it that the silicone is flattened so thin between the lip and barrel that it is ineffective?

no need to do that, doesnt play a role at all if the seal is done correctly.

Hello love the video really enjoyed taking mine apart. Do you have an recommendation on torquing Down weds cerberus 2 bolts. They are being reused but I can’t find the factory torque. Also what do think is best for taking the silicone off of the bolts. Thank you in advance.

Wire wheel to get silicone off. Although there shouldn't be any to begin with. Are they 7mm? There is no defined torque setting for reused bolts as they are torque to yield when new. Traditionally 7mm are 17-18lbs m8 26-28

Yea they are m7 bolts. Some them have silicone all on them. After watching your video I realized it shouldn’t be there. The wire wheel won’t mess up the threading on the bolts. Thanks for the fast reply. And thanks again in advance.

I don't know why anyone would use RTV honestly. Not for this task. In theory you could use liquid nails if ya wanted but it's not the best idea either lol

Hi ,i have the older Sanvivi bolts . it has 12 point.. but a M8 seems to be to small and the M9 too big..Its like it needs a M8.5 . Bolts could be stripped for the M8 so its not catching anymore?

for 3 piece wheels I charge 75 to disassemble, and 125 to assemble and seal. Thats for a set. powder coating varies depending on what I am doing and what color. a set of wheels is 300 (single stage 1 piece wheels)

just be careful when removing the face (if the tire is on drain the air entirely)

Anyone know if ssr courage needs to be welded back once relipping? Im sure most 3p dont need to be welded but ive heard the lips can hairline crack over time if theyre just bolted back.

SSR welds their wheels just because. No need for them to be rewelded if you split them.

Apply heat to the end of bolt and the nut. From a torch. While hot hot the nut with an impact

yes assuming its a face mount or rear mount wheel. Drain the air entirely from the wheel, typically the best way is to remove the valve core.

I have works Brombacher wheels. Wanted to paint the center face and was wondering if I could just undo the bolts and remove the face without having to separate the rim it self and avoid having to reseal it. The face seams to be applied from tue outside and is not between both section.

better to torque before or after silicone? If you lay silicone down then torque could it potentially cause air bubbles?

Assemble with a few bolts, silicone, add the rest of the bolts and torque. Thats how I do it at least.

I don't see why not. The key is to not have loose pieces of silicone around when applying new silicone

@@UnknownCoatings watch the whole video but didn't see anything about my face is on the inside and not the outside so do I clean the silicone out like you showed put the barrel and lip together and throw maybe like a star pattern of five bolts to hold it together then silicone it let that dry and then put the face on the inside or put the face on the inside and everything together and then silicone it? I purchased a disassembled set of 3 piece wheels that when I went to reassemble them the forged center piece will not go pass the outer barrel flange. Seems as it is out of round. What do I have to do to fix it?

i dont recommend it, it comes out thru the bolt holes, attaches to the bolts, makes bolts hard to remove. No wheel maker does it this way, so people shouldnt be doing it that way either

I’m rebuilding a set of style 5s and have one wheel that has about 20 bolts left that are seized and don’t want to come out. Any tips on removal? I will be getting new hardware so damaging them isn’t an issue.

Both. I haven’t removed the face. The nuts came off but the bolts on the last few are being stubborn. The hardware on the other three wheels came out without much issue.

Im not. Do you mean the paint and such removed after? I strain it, let the particulate dry, put it in a barrel then when its full I take it to the haz mat disposal.
