This was very helpful. One thing, I actually put in about 4 oz of fuel in carb before installing the top of carb back on. Having the fuel in the carb, made for a very quick start without having to crank long. I also used carb cleaner stray and shot it through the passages. Runs great now.

Nice video. I like to go over the carb with a toothbrush and some solvent before I crack it apart. This helps eliminate the possibility of debris falling down into the carb.

Very Good video. I use wooden dowels, stick them in the screw holes, slide all the gaskets and parts over them, then take them out one at a time and install the screws. Seems to help hold all the stuff in place. Thanks

Very nice and detailed explained, explained the pitfalls too, thanks a big lot !!! By now I have to deal with water in the fuel system, snow-blower that rested 2 yrs in a barn, through day/night temp.-changes built up moisture in the fuel and drove me mad....

Subscribed. Very informative video! It will come in handy when I go to rebuild my Simplicity 6216 with this exact engine. Handed down from Dad, who bought the tractor new, the carb has never been touched except for a rebuild of the fuel pump 10 years ago. Today, I had a hydrolock on one cylinder when I went to start her up, so I suspect a faulty float valve/needle sealing.

The material you were calling THIS is the "Fuel Pump Diaphragm" as for the springs simply put a dab of grease on them and they will not move or fall out, and I do mean a SMALL dab!

Great video , I have a 16 horse Briggs Stratton twin there's vacuum on the engine i rebuild the pump as you showed ,. But it isn't sucking gas at all doesn't seem to have any vacuum leak's what is my next move i open for ideas thank you for your video
@JeffsLittleEngineService
@JeffsLittleEngineService Месяц назад
Make sure fuel line is not kinked or plugged. Make sure vacume tube/hose from engine to pump is not damaged. The float bowl should fill up with gas eventually when you try to start the engine the first time after servicing. It can take awhile you must try to start/turn for 30 seconds or so before the carb fills up with gas. Also, double check your work something may not be right.

You said someone must have rebuilt the carburetor. I think you meant to say someone rebuilt the carb then swapped engines. I have NEVER seen an LTX Cub with an opposed twin. Probably better off than the Kohler Crappage motor. ;)

Good video but the gasket you used under the float didn't match the one that you took off the carb. I saw one that looked like it would have matched it better in that handful of gaskets that you had. Just an observation but I didn't know if it might would have effected the carb function.

Great step by step video, thanks! But I did everything and rebuilt the carb for mine (same engine as yours) and still have to run it with some choke. All ports cleaned and clear. All new gaskets and float pin w/spring. Float in great condition. Rebuilt and everything great on the fuel pump. But still will only run with choke about half at full throttle and almost all the way out at idle. Very frustrating!
@JeffsLittleEngineService

You may have used the wrong gasket or missed cleaning some passage ways inside the carb.. You are still having a carburetor problem
@JeffsLittleEngineService

Or perhaps the engine is only running on 1 cylinder

Since you have easy access to your carb ,wouldn’t be easier to dismount it to work on it . I saw you struggling with the fuel pump gaskets / springs . I am working on a yard man 19.5 twin carb exactly like yours ,but the only way I could work on it is dismounting the carb off the motor .

What is the foam ring for? Can't find it on my carb. I also have 2 New needle screws in my rebuild kit. Only one on the carb. Also my main jet is attached to an electric solenoid that didn't come in the kit. I'm assuming spare pieces are for other alternate models. Thanks. Great video.

Hi Jeff, I have a 17HP Twin and my engine just started to rev up then slow down. ( It was running fine four days ago. I topped off the fuel before covering it ). When I pulled the filter exposing the carb, when it started to slow down, it would squirt fuel and causing it to rev up. Once the fuel supply was used, it would repeat the cycle of squirting more fuel, etc. Have any thoughts for troubleshooting it. Will I have to rebuild my carb? From what I suspect, there may be a vacuum leak for the fuel pump.

I have a 19.5 Briggs and have torn down the carb and put a kit in it but it still runs too rich and misses and blows black smoke. The air screw has no adjustment. Would the fuel pump be causing this or a passage in the carb be stopped up? Thanks
@JeffsLittleEngineService
@JeffsLittleEngineService 4 года назад
Black smoke usually means too much fuel, running rich. Probably not the fuel pump more like carb problems. Also, MAKE SURE YOU have spark on both sides. I have seen this when 1 coil goes out
